Those of you who’ve been paying attention at the back will know that my Holy Grail mascara is a waterproof one – Lancome’s L’Extreme. While L’Extreme is great for creating huge, dramatic lashes, though, it’s not so great when it comes to removing it. For this, Lancome will recommend using their Bi-Facil double action eye makeup remover, which is, indeed, one of the best eye makeup removers I’ve ever used. And use it I did, for many a long month. Then I became self-employed and poor and suddenly, paying £11 a throw just to get my makeup off didn’t seem like such a good idea any more.
Luckily, though, I had a secret weapon up my sleeve. Well, it wasn’t actually up my sleeve, but you know what I mean. This is another Boots product (can you tell I’ve been to Boots today?), this time from their Botanics range, and it’s the closest thing you’ll get to Bi-Facil without actually buying Bi-Facil. It’s called Botanics Soothing Eye Makeup Remover, and, like the Lancome remover, comes in two layers: you just shake the bottle then apply. It removes even waterproof mascara easily, and, best of all, is only £2.99. I have to admit to being a little bit apprehensive about using it, though – I notice it’s been revamped since I last use it, so I’m hoping it’s still as good as it used to be. Time will tell…
