Monthly Archives: July 2007Cargo Glossbox – 14 lipglosses in a box!
That doesn’t stop me buying the stuff, though. No, I’m still a sucker for the stuff (or maybe just a sucker?), which is why this Glossbox by Cargo has caught my eye. It contains 14 different shimmery and sheer lipglosses, all packed in a handy carrying case. You shall have lipgloss wherever you go, people. Not me, though. I’ll just have sticky hair… Buy It: Cargo Glossbox, $15 at Sephora. [Source: Style Hive] Celebrity Beauty: Sienna Miller’s eyebrows are scary
Sienna showed up to yesterday’s Valentino gala dinner with a face full of makeup that looks a little too thick for her, I think, and these slightly caterpillar-like eyebrows – looks like someone had a bit too much fun with the eyebrow pencil, no? I think this look is too strong for Sienna, who’d look better with something a little more delicate. Whaddya think? Fake Tan on Trial: Garnier Summer Body reviewed
But does it work? Well, yes and no. I personally wasn’t very impressed with this one. While it has its good points (which we’ll talk about later), for me it was just too subtle, even on my lily-white skin. I’m used to using Johnson’s every two or three days at the most, but I’d need to use Summer Body every day if I wanted to maintain that sun-kissed look. That said, its very subtlety might be a big bonus for some people, so on with the review…

Catherine Zeta Jones uses caviar on her hair
The $470 treatment also involves Catherine’s hair being washed with a truffle shampoo, before being covered in the caviar and left to set. Don’t worry, the fish eggs are liquefied first, so it’s not too smelly. Apparently. Catherine’s been having these treatments at Hari’s hair salon, London, for over a year now, and loves it. It’s expensive, but for your $470, you also get a complimentary glass of champagne and caviar canapes. I should think so, too…

Lipgloss in a tin! A retro/funny/rude tin!
I have no idea what these lipglosses will look like on, but the tins they come in are so much fun that I could be persuaded to try one anyway. There are six different styles to choose from, each containing a flavoured gloss in shades of red, pink and clear. They only cost £5 for a pack of two from ASOS, so even if the gloss is no good, at least you’ll get yourself a funny, pretty or rude tin, should you want one. Buy It: Assorted lip gloss in a tin

Anastasia’s After Tweeze Cream – helps you tweeze more easily
I, you see, was born with a unibrow, a bit like Liam Gallaghers. (Well, I wasn’t born with it, exactly. The unibrow came later – but not much later, let me tell you). That unibrow of mine has to be tweezed every single day in order for me to look even barely human, and all of that tweezing has a tendency to leave its mark. Its bright red mark. No more, though! This cream contains vitamins A, C and E, plus soothing camomile extract, which will calm the redness of "just tweezed" brows (or any other facial redness, according to the website), and it’ll do it for $20. Result. Buy It: Anastasia After Tweeze Cream Wanted! Wax Away In-Shower Hair Removal Cream
Now, here’s a novel idea… It’s called Wax Away, and it’s basically a depilatory cream that showers right off just minutes after application – taking unwanted hair with it, natch. According to the instructions, all you have to do is apply the cream, wait one minute, then jump in the shower and wait a further two minutes before showering it away. For anyone that’s ever tried to use Immac (or Veet, as it’s now called) but been overpowered by the smell or bored by the amount of time you have to sit around waiting for it to "take", this sounds like a pretty good idea. No more razors, no more wax strips, no more legs cut to shreds because, really, you’re too clumsy to be allowed control of a sharp instrument (why yes, I am talking about myself!). Sounds good to me, but will it actually work, I wonder? Bliss Ray of Hope – a sunscreen that makes you look slimmer. Apparently.
The sunscreen in question is Bliss’ Ray of Hope, and it contains "solar activated slender spheres". Yes, "slender spheres". Because that doesn’t sound silly at all, does it? Apparently these slender spheres work to "release the visual slimming effect of caffeine molecules" when you’re lying in the sun, thus creating the illusion that you are, indeed, slimmer. I wonder if they’ll ever release one with "look like Angelina Jolie spheres"? Now that would be worth buying. This one comes in SPF20 and is in a spray formula for easy application. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s used it, and who can tell us whether it actually made them look slimmer or not.

Shu Uemura’s brand new Hideki Inaba Boutique Collection Makeup Box
For someone who blogs about beauty, you’d probably be pretty horrified by the state of my makeup collection. It currently languishes in various boxes, bags, drawers, and – yes – the inner pockets of my handbags, and I hang my head in shame. In my defense, though, I do intend to put this sorry state of affairs right, and, to that end, have become absolutely obsessed with train cases. I’ve owned many of these in my time (I am very old), but haven’t yet found one that’s been 100% perfect. This 24th birthday box from Shu Uemura could be a contender, though. It comes decorated with artwork by Hideki Inaba, and has a leather-covered handle and two stacking tiers, and, given that it’s limited edition, could be a nice gift for The only problem here? Well, I’m not sure if I could quite see my way to spending $200 on something described as "mini", could you? Buy: Shu Uemura makeup box New Product: Benefits’ ‘That Gal’ brightening face primer
I heard about this via Jen’s blog, Glossing Over It, this weekend, and was so excited I almost wet myself. Sorry, am I over-sharing here? As you all know, I lovelovelove Benefit, so a new product launch from them is always good news. This one is particularly good news, though, because, well, it sounds like a particularly good product. It’s a face primer, but unlike Benefit’s currently available primer, Doctor Feelgood, this one will also brighten your skin, rather than just preparing it for makeup. According to Benefit, "It’s a silky pink primer that makes skin appear smoother & It’s $27 and currently only available in the US, but no doubt coming soon to an eBay auction near you. Buy it: Benefit
