Body Boutique Patch Factor – A Natural Detox Programme – detox in a box

detox Body Boutique Patch Factor A Natural Detox Programme detox in a boxEvery so often, I decide to try and detox. And every so often (by which I mean "every single damn time") – I fail. Miserably.  I just lack the self-control to give up coffee and wine and live on water and fruit for a week (and yes, I do know that’s not quite how you detox, but I’m all about the drama. Bear with me…). So, to cut a long story short, I’m intrigued by these Natural Detox patches by Body Boutique. You stick them  on the soles of your feet before going to bed at night, peel them off in the morning, et voila – you’re detoxed!

Does it work, though? Well, I don’t know, which is why I’m asking you. Has anyone tried this? Would you recommend it?

Celebrities Without Makeup: Pamela Anderson

pamelaandersonwithoutmak 2 Celebrities Without Makeup: Pamela AndersonWell, she’s certainly not wearing makeup, but what you can’t see in this picture of Pamela Anderson is that she wasn’t wearing any shoes, either. Personally, I’d worry more about the shoes – we all pop out of the house without our "faces" on from time to time (don’t we?) but walking around in public with no shoes? Eeeewww!

Beauty Wish List: Urban Decay Lip Envy moisturising lip stain

urbandecay Beauty Wish List: Urban Decay Lip Envy moisturising lip stainI’m totally intrigued by this Urban Decay Lip Envy stain, which claims to provide a "semi permanent" wash of colour which will actually hydrate your lips at the same time.  Given that I’ve yet to find a lip colour that can stand up to more than an hour of my dedicated coffee-drinking, I’m already sold – and the fact that this one promises to hydrate my poor old lips too makes it sound all the more desirable.

It’s a gel-like formula that dries to a semi-matt finish, and it’s available in three different colours. Get it at Sephora, where it’s $17.

A marriage of moisturiser and, er, cellphone charms as Clinique’s Dramatically Different helps raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness

cliniquedramaticallydiffe A marriage of moisturiser and, er, cellphone charms as Cliniques Dramatically Different helps raise money for Breast Cancer AwarenessIf ever there was a time for beauty-product shopping without the guilt, next month is going to be it, folks, because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and lots of your favourite products will be donating a percentage of their sale price to the cause.

One of those products is Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, and, all joking aside, I think we all know someone who’s been affected by breast cancer, so I think it’s great that Clinique is donating $10 from each sale of this to The Breast Cancer Research Fund, don’t you?

Oh, and you also get a mobile phone charm with it. Why? No freakin’ idea. But bring it on, Clinique, bring it on…

Dollface Reviews: Blinc ‘Kiss Me’ mascara

3280 Dollface Reviews: Blinc Kiss Me mascara Dollface Reviews: Blinc Kiss Me mascara

I originally bought Blinc’s ‘Kiss Me’ mascara back at the start of the year, when I was still planning for my wedding. I was desperately hunting for a mascara that wouldn’t budge, no matter how much weeping and wailing I did. (Don’t worry, I wanted to get married, I just knew I’d cry like a waterfall throughout the whole thing. And I did). Well,  ‘Kiss Me’ is certainly a good bet for that…

Calvin Klein to launch a cosmetics line

christinaricci Calvin Klein to launch a cosmetics lineI’m a big fan of Calvin Klein’s fragrances (I was an Obsession girl when I was a teenager, and an Escape girl for a couple of years after that) so I, for one, am pretty excited to hear that the brand is about to launch a new makeup line, under the by Markwins International licence. Calvin Klein Inc. will launch during Milan Fashion Week, later this month – so what’s with the picture of Christina Ricci, I hear you ask?

Well, Christina will be hosting the launch party for the new line, which will be held on September 27th. Weridly, my invitation seems to have got lost in the post… What’s up with that, Calvin?

Dollface Reviews: Benefit ‘That Gal’ brightening face primer

benefitthatgal Dollface Reviews: Benefit That Gal brightening face primer
Regular readers will remember my excitement at the launch of Benefit’s ‘That Gal’ and will probably not be the slightest bit surprised to find that it was the very first thing to go into my Sephora shopping bag a couple of weeks ago.

I’m a big fan of Benefit’s existing primer, Doctor Feelgood, which I use most days, so I had high hopes of this one. Sadly, it doesn’t look like I’ll be giving up the good Doctor anytime soon: That Gal looks good, feels good and smells good, but, unfortunately it didn’t do an awful lot for my skin. D’oh.

At first glance, I was really pleased with it. You twist the bottom of the tube to make the liquid come out of the holes at the top: it comes out looking and smelling very much like Angel Delight, which makes it delicious to use (note: not literally. I didn’t try eating it, and I don’t recommend you do, either). It’s light and lovely, and it goes on like a dream (peaches and cream… Oh no, wait – that’s Benefit Georgia, isn’t it?)

Love is… emergency nail kit from Urban Outfitters

nailkit Love is... emergency nail kit from Urban Outfitters

Being the clumsy oaf I am, I’d need the badly-manicured fingers of both hands to count the number of times I’ve had a Nail Emergency when there’s been not so much as an emery board in sight. You all know nail emergencies, I assume: they happen when you break a nail when you’re far from home, then end up snagging it on your tights every five minutes. The result: ugly nail, ripped tights, grumpy you. Or rather, grumpy me.

Urban Outfitters aim to put an end to Bad Nail Days with this cute ‘Love Is’ nail kit, which contains a mirror, scissors, nail file clippers and tweezers (which have absolutely nothing to do with nails as far as I can see, but hey, you always need tweezers, right), all in a cute little heart-shaped holder. Cute, and just £10.

Western Hairdryer – stick ‘em up, cowboy!

hairdryergun Western Hairdryer stick em up, cowboy!

I don’t know about you, but  I sometimes find blow-drying a little bit… well, boring, really. Who can blame the Japanese makers of this shotgun hairdryer for trying to inject a little excitement into proceedings, then? I have no idea how well this hairdryer will work – in fact, I don’t know much about it at all, given that the website’s in Japanese – but what I do know is this: I want one.

Buy It: Western Dryer

Dollface Reviews: DuWop Lip Venom – lip plumping gloss

lipvenom Dollface Reviews: DuWop Lip Venom lip plumping glossAs well as being a mascara junkie, I’m also all about lip plumping gloss. Long has been my search for the perfect plumper, and after my experiment with
DuWop Lip Venom
, I’m afraid the search continues, because it didn’t make a whole lot of difference. (And by that I mean “No difference. At all”.)

Lip venom uses all kinds of fun ingredients like cinnamon and ginger to plump the lips. What it’s basically doing is acting as an irritant to your lips, causing them to swell up in reaction, giving you that full, pouty, Angelina Jolie look. Well, all I can say is that I must have some hard-ass lips because although I did experience the slight stinging experience you’re told to expect when you apply this gloss, they didn’t exactly swell up much in response to it.

The Before & After shots are after the fold…
