Monthly Archives: February 2008Dollface Reviews: The Body Shop’s Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion
As the name suggests, this is a great product to apply to hot, tired, shopped-out feet. The scent of the peppermint oil alone is enough to revive your tired feet (and spirits) and it also contains cocoa butter, plus almond and grape seed oil, to give them back some moisture, too. The formula has changed slightly since I was a kid, and it’s now being billed as the "new, improved formula" although I don’t notice any huge difference. It’s £8 for a 250ml bottle, and is also available as a foot scrub, spray and mask. Remember! If it’s your first online purchase from The Body Shop, you can save 10% by entering coupon code DHAD000857 at checkout.

Dollface Reviews: ‘Rehab’ shampoo by Lush
I bought Rehab because, to put it bluntly, my hair is in a real mess at the moment: coarse, dry, damaged – in fact, I’ve been tempted to just get it all chopped off, that’s how much it’s annoying me at the moment. Rehab is designed to cure all that. It will, says the Lush website, "turn dull, weary hair into a calm, refreshed mane." "I’ll have some of that, then," I thought…

Too Faced FUZE Slenderize Guilt Free Lip Gloss – a lipgloss that makes you thin!
This contains the same ingredients as FUZE Slenderize drinks. I haven’t tried those either, and tend to be very skeptical of anything other than healthy eating and regular excercise as a means to weight loss, but I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who’s actually tried the gloss. It comes in Blueberry Raspberry, Strawberry Melon, and Dragon Fruit Lime flavours, so at least it’ll be tasty, if nothing else. Dollface Reviews: Nirvana Spa’s Orange Smoothie Shower and Bath Gel
Anyway, one such product purchased purely to help me make the most of my new bathroom was Nirvana Spa’s Orange Smoothie Shower and Bath Gel. It’s pictured here with the matching body scrub, which I haven’t tried, but probably will because this stuff is seriously orangey. My main reason for choosing a fruit scented shower gel was that I was hoping the citrus smell would help wake me up in the morning. This certainly does that, and leaves the bathroom smelling or oranges for a long time afterwards, too. The liquid itself is nice and thick – you only need a small amount of it to do your whole body, and while it doesn’t give much of a lather, when used as a bubble bath, it does build up some satisfyingly big and frothy bubbles, which stick around for as long as you do, rather than just melting instantly, like some cheaper brands. I bought this from Asda, but you can also buy it from Nirvana Spa’s website.

Rachel Bilson’s new bangs
This morning I finally called and made an appointment for a much-needed haircut. I’ve been thinking of going the same route as Rachel Bilson here, and getting a fringe (as well call them, here in the UK) cut, but I’m still undecided. This cut looks super-cute on Rachel, but then, most things do, and I’m not sure it’d be quite "me". What does everyone else think about Rachel Bilson’s new hairdo? And what do you think about bangs/fringes in general – love ‘em or loathe ‘em?

Amy Winehouse to launch beauty line?
Now, the clothes we already knew about, but the Amy Winehouse beauty line is a new one on me, and I have to admit, I’m a little skeptical. According to The Sun (which isn’t always a reliable source of news, it has to be said), the line will include Amy essentials, including liquid eyeliner for that winged look, and hairspray, to keep all of our beehives in place. Given that we can already buy liquid eyeliner and hairspray, with which to try and emulate the Amy Winehouse look, if we so desire, how many of you are excited at the thought of buying Amy-branded cosmetics, I wonder? Dollface Reviews: Sally Hansen’s Lip Inflation plumping gloss
This works on the same principle as other glosses I’ve tried, such as Lip Venom and Lip Injection. You just apply it to your lips like a regular gloss, and ingredients including peppermint, ginger and cinnamon combine to irritate your lips, causing them to swell up in a non-painful way. But does it work? Look after the jump for full review plus before and after pictures…

Origins launch new Organics skincare range – good for your skin, good for the planet
I have to admit that hunting down cool organic beauty products is something I don’t do nearly enough of. It’s all too easy to be seduced by cure packaging and amazing claims and to forget all about the important bit – you know, what’s actually in the stuff. Well, Origins are making finding products that are good for the planet as well as good for your skin that bit easier with their recently launched Organics range.Origins is, of course, an Estee Lauder brand, so you can expect some fairly high-end product here. You can also expect it to be kind to the planet, too: it’s the first full line of products to be certified by the United State Department of Agriculture, and most products in the line are made with around 95% organic ingredients. As for the products themselves, well, there’s a Foaming Face Wash, a Soothing Lip Balm, a Purifying Tonic, a Nourishing Face Lotion a Cleansing Body Bar and… actually, you’d probably be best to go and visit the site itself, because as you can see from the picture above, there are a lot of products here to try out. And if you do decide to do just that, remember to come back and tell us what you thought of them.. Buy: Origins Organics
