Monthly Archives: May 2008Betty: Colour for the hair ‘down there’
Um. Yeah. You know, I obsess over a lot of different aspects of my hair and beauty routines, but the colour of the hair… down there… just doesn’t really occupy my thoughts. I’m guessing this is a good thing. If you’ve ever had a burning desire (and I’m really hoping "burning" isn’t the operative word here…) to be blonde all over – or black, or brown or red, of course – then Betty is the product you need. It’ll cover grey hair, or just allow you to match the colour of the dyed hair on your head, and it comes in a range of colours including everything from regular old blonde and brunette to hot pink and, er, blue. The blue is for brides. OF COURSE. You can buy Betty here, but I’m curious to know whether this is something you do/would consider doing, so remember to come back and tell me!

Chanel launches Robertson Boulevard nail colour collection
I’m getting pretty tired of writing about how bright colours are, like, totally hot right now, but the fact is – they are. To prove it, here’s Chanel’s latest nail colour collection. It’s called Robertson Boulevard and, well, it’s pretty bright, isn’t it? Probably a little too bright for me, and I don’t think that yellow will look great against my pale skin, but if bright sets your heart alight (sorry), the colours are, clockwise from left: Melrose, L.A. Sunrise, Rodeo Drive and L.A. Sunset. Get them from Chanel.

Miss Ooops Pucker Protector – lip balm and gloss in one
This is a great idea for anyone who loves the look of gloss but spends most of the day applying lip balm so their poor old lips. It’s Miss Oops’ ‘Pucker Protector’ and it’s basically a lip balm that has the shine and appearance of a gloss. It also comes in a gloss-like tube, too, which is good news for me because most (actually, make that all) of my lip balms have to be applied with the tip of a finger and regular applications = sticky keyboards…. Buy: Miss Ooops Pucker Protector, $14 Around our blog network this week…

Bliss Fat Girl Sleep – Fat Girl Slim for bedtime!
Now that I’ve discovered the nighttime version, Fat Girl Sleep, though, I’m tempted just to bypass Fat Girl Slim altogether and go for this one instead. Working on the same principles as the original, this releases its goodness over a period of six hours, so you can put it on before you go to bed and wake up slim. Well, no, not quite – if it could do that it would cost a helluva lot more than $38, but it will mean that you don’t have to worry about slathering on body cream in the mornings, when you’re struggling to wake up for work. Buy: Fat Girl Sleep, $38

Nic’s Sticks by OPI – nail polish in a pen
I mentioned yesterday that I tend to wear coloured nail polish on my toes only. That’s not because I don’t like the look of it on my hands – I do, but because I type all day (and, OK, because I’m clumsy and prone to looking like I’ve been dragged through the proverbial hedge) any polish I try to use on my fingers will chip more or less instantly. I hate the look of chipped nail polish, and I’m too lazy to go to the trouble of maintaining it, so clear gloss it is. Nic’s Sticks by OPI might be about to change my mind, though, These are similar to the YSL Easy French Manicure Kit I wrote about a few months ago, in that the colour comes in a pen, and all you have to do is give it a quick shake and then apply. It’s fast-drying, comes in a huge variety of colours, and the pen is going to be much easier to pop in your handbag and use to touch up those chipped bits while you’re out and about, so something like this seems like it could be just what I’ve been looking for to let me wear bright colours on my nails, without permanently looking like Courtney Love. My Foundation: Currently using Max Factor’s Lasting Performance Foundation which I loved when I first started using it about a month ago, but which I’m finding a little too thick now that the sun’s finally come out. I’m not loyal to any particular foundation, though, and have yet to find my Holy Grail! My Mascara: Lancome L’Extreme Waterproof Mascara in black. I talk about this mascara way too much here, but I love it, and even although I’ll still try any mascara once, it’s the one I always have "in stock" and it’s the one I use every day. My Blush: Benefit Benetint. My Eye Shadow: I actually hardly ever wear eyeshadow. On the rare occassion that I decide to put some on, usually for a night out, I’ll normally go for a sparkly gold one by BarryM which I don’t know the name of offhand.
