Monthly Archives: June 2008Dollface Reviews: NARS Orgasm – the Holy Grail of blush!
Now, everyone knows that NARS Orgasm is a popular blusher. It’s one of the most talked-about products I know, and so many beauty lovers swear by it that you’re probably wondering what took me so long? Good question… Holy Grail Beauty Products: what are yours?
For beauty lovers, The Holy Grail is the lipstick that remains in place even after your second latte of the morning. It’s the mascara that really does make your eyelashes look like they came out of a packet. The wrinkle cream that – brace yourself, ladies – actually gets rid of wrinkles. (That last one is definitely a myth, by the way). In other words, it’s the perfect product, that does exactly what you want it to, in the way you want it to do it. And boy, but is it hard to find… Over the next few weeks I’m going to be sharing some of my Holy Grail Beauty Products with you (note: not literally. I’ll just be telling you about them, no actual sharing of products will be involves. Because those products are mine.) First, though, I want to know what yours are. Have you found the Holy Grail mascara, foundation, skin cream, or something else? Tell me, so I can discover it, too!

Lip Lust by POP Beauty
Having raved about Vaseline’s Rosy Lips earlier this week, I’m still finding myself drawn to lip colour that’s super-moisturising, with just a hint of colour. I haven’t tried POP Beauty’s Lip Lust, but it sounds like exactly the kind of thing I mean – it’s a sheer lipstick with what they describe as a "glowy" finish, and it contains vitamin E and lip plumping ingredients to keep your lips looking soft and plump. It’s available for $13 a "pop" (groan!) from Sephora. Lancome to launch new Ôscillation mascara this fall
It’s called Ôscillation, and it sounds really quite special, as it provides a 360-degree coat around each lash. Not only that, but as you can see from the image on your right, the brush actually vibrates (and you thought it was just a blurry photo, didn’t you?), providing you with no fewer than 7,000 vibrations per minute. Now that should be an interesting application… Ôscillation has four patents for technology and formula and was created by a team led by Jean-Louis Guéret, the designer of all Lancôme mascara brushes. I’ve always said that the best thing about Lancome’s mascara is the fabulous brushes – they refer to Guéret as ‘The King of Mascara’ for a reason, you know – so I really can’t wait to try this one out. Roll on this fall! (Not too fast, though – we don’t want to miss summer…) Dollface Reviews: Vaseline Lip Therapy ‘Rosy Lips’
Well, vacation time is over and it’s back to work for Dollface. Everyone say, "aaawww!" Luckily, I have lots of shiny new beauty products to keep me occupied now I’m home. Let’s just say Sephora has seen a lot of me recently. And even more of my credit card, sadly. Today, though, I want to show you my newest acquisition, which is something I didn’t buy in Sephora. In fact, it’s something that arrived in the mail only this morning, making me stop what I was doing (Drinking coffee and twittering) to go, "Ooh, lookit this!" "This", of course, is Vaseline’s new ‘Rosy Lips’ petroleum jelly, which is basically Vaseline’s classic Lip Therapy tin, with one important difference: it makes your lips "rosy". Now, who doesn’t want rosy lips, I ask you? Raise your hand if you don’t want rosy lips. See? No one. I’m a fan of Vaseline Lip Therapy anyway, and always have a tin in my beauty box. I’ve been using the "original" formula for years now, but I love this one even more. The jelly itself is scented with rose and almond oils (although only very subtly) and the tint is perfect for creating that "English rose" look. It gives your lips a glossy wash of natural looking rosy colour, which I love, and it can also be used to give subtle colour/glow to your eyelids and cheekbones. I’ve mentioned before that I will sometimes use Benetint Lip Balm on my cheeks as well as my lips as a quick "pick me up" if I’m out and about, and this works in the same way. It’s shinier than the Benefit product, but not too greasy, and good for that "dewy" look, to go with the rosy cheeks. It’s also cheaper – just £1.49 for a tin. I can tell this is going to be coming everywhere with me from now on. If you want to buy some for yourself, you’re going to have to wait until next month, when it’ll be available from all of the usual sources – Boots, Superdrug, etc. Rating: 5/5 Dollface is One today!
Yes, our little beauty blog is one year old today, so thank you to all the readers who have helped keep the site going with your questions and comments. Have a drink for Dollface tonight, and here’s to the next beautiful year!
