Monthly Archives: July 2008Benefit launch B Spot perfume
It contains notes of mango, freesia, peony, sandalwood and amber, and Benefit are recommending it be applied to your very own "B" points, i.e. on the pulse points, where it’ll radiate out. And just in case all of the sexual innuendo is passing you by, they’re even including a "sexy body map" to help you find your own B Spot. Ooh-er! Buy: Benefit B Spot, $38

Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil Beauty confession coming up: I sometimes use Benefit’s High Brow as a concealer. Yes, I know it’s supposed to be a brow lifter (and it’s a damn good brow lifter, too), but it’s the right colour for my pale skin, it’s reasonably creamy, and the fact that it comes in a pencil means that you get really precise application onto spots and other blemishes. But… it’s a brow lifter. Which means it’s a little bit shiny. And this is why I’m so interested in Urban Decay’s 24/7 concealer pencil. It’s a creamy formula with a matt finish, and it’s also in a pencil format, which means it should provide that same, precise application. I’m mostly interested in this for concealing spots, but Urban Decay say you can also shade it onto larger areas to conceal redness etc. It comes in four shades and is $16 at Sephora. Guyliner – eyeliner for guys!
Yesterday we told you about Eyelure’s false eyelashes for men, but what, I hear you ask, are the men who wear those lashes going to use to line their eyes? Why, Guyliner of course! This is another product that’s exactly what it sounds like – in this case, eyeliner for guys. I first read about it over at Kiss and Makeup, and would have to agree with Zara that the only thing setting it apart from regular eyeliner seems to be the same: I guess men maybe don’t want to be seen buying "women’s" makeup, but are happy enough to buy something called ‘Guyliner’? Who knows. If you, or the man in your life, think this is just the product you’re looking for, it’s £6.50 and you can buy it here.

The Lash Stash from Sephora – seven mini mascaras in one box! Oh. My. God. Now, I’ve always wished Sephora would just start shipping to the UK already, but I don’t think I’ve ever wished it quite as much as I do now, because this? Is the Best. Idea. Ever. It’s The Lash Stash, and it’s a collection of seven mini mascaras, from brands like Benefit, Smashbox, Stila and Too Faced. It’s the Best Idea Ever – for me, at least – because it costs just $28, meaning you get to try out all of those mascaras without having to pay full price for them. As a complete mascara junkie, I think this is a fabulous idea: I’d try out every mascara on the market if I possibly could, because it’s my ultimate beauty item, but because I’m on a limited budget, and don’t want to spend money on something that may not work, I tend to stick to my tried and tested Lancome L’Extreme. This kit includes: * 0.14 oz Benefit A Little Bit BADgal Lash in Black An even better idea would be to release more versions of this pack containing different mascara brands – well, you can never have too many, can you? Buy: The Lash Stash, $28, Sephora

Pretty Polly Love Legs Bronzed Leg Gloss
Pretty Polly’s Love Legs Bronzed Leg Gloss promises to be one of those products. They say it’ll "help to smooth out any skin imperfections and gives an appearance of a sexy glow whilst moisturising", which all sounds good to me, and I also love that slightly retro packaging, with the pin-up girl illustration. It’s fairly expensive at £8 for 75g, but I’m guessing the lack of streakiness will make up for it. They also do a Sheer Silk Leg Makeup which looks worth checking out if you want a little more colour.

Eyelure make false eyelashes for men – whatever next?
Luckily for them, Eyelure have risen to the challenge, creating their Natural Lashes for Men, which are basically the same as the false eyelashes they make for women, but a little more natural looking, and with a virtually clear strip along the base, so there’s no tell-tale false lashline. Eyelure say, "The male grooming market is increasing one and a half times faster than the women’s market as men start to realise that looks do count! With mainstream cosmetic brands bringing out ranges specifically for men, Eyelure believe the time is right to introduce men to the wonders of lashes which ladies have benefited from for over 60 years." The lashes will cost £5.45 per pair and will be available from September from Amazon and Harrods. Any men reading this? Would you wear false eyelashes, do you think? And women: what would you think if you noticed your date was wearing falsies?

Dollface Reviews: Philosophy ‘The Present’ clear makeup
All I can say, though, is Philosophy’s ‘The Present’ is the emperor’s new clothes of cosmetics for me, because as far as I can tell, it doesn’t do a thing for me. On its own: Well, it’s clear, and what can I say – it really didn’t make any difference to my skin at all. I should add here that I wasn’t expecting miracles. It would’ve been nice if The Present had delivered the perfect, airbrushed skin I had read about, but really, my skin looked exactly the same, both before and after use. Paul Smith swirl print makeup bag
If I was the kind of person who would justify the purchase of a designer makeup bag, though, this one by Paul Smith would probably be somewhere on my wish list. The psychedelic, swirly print is nice and summery, and would cheer me up during the dark, winter months too. If only it wasn’t £125…
