Monthly Archives: August 2008Avon mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint Will I ever get tired of trying out new blushers, I wonder? Probably not,. Even although I’ve already found my Holy Grail Blusher (Nars Orgasm), one of the disadvantages of looking a lot like a vampire is that you’re constantly on the lookout for something that will give you those perfect, healthy-looking rosy cheeks, which is why Avon mark’s ‘Just Pinched’ has caught my attention. This is a sheer, creamy cheek tint which comes in the four shades shown above. According to the reviews at the Avon website, the "nude" colour is good for very pale skin, but it’s apparently sheer enough that these shades should work on most complexions, and you can obviously layer it up if you’re looking for a more intense colour.

Model in a Bottle makeup setting spray
This is supposed to prevent both of the scenarios described above, and plenty more besides, by basically locking your makeup onto your face. Just apply the translucent formula after makeup – it dries fast to a matt finish, and will apparently make your makeup look like you just applied it. If this actually does what it claims to do, I’ll be all over it like a rash. Anyone actually tried it? Buy: Model in a Bottle

Fizzy Baker Cupcake Bath Bombs I don’t know quite why it is that bath products shaped like cupcakes are so very compelling to me. And I don’t really care, either. All I care about is that their makers keep those cupcakes coming, and then I’ll be a happy Dollface. These ones are by Fizzy Baker, and are $5.50 each from Amazon. I would say more on this subject, but you know, they’re bath bombs shaped like cupcakes – how much more is there to say? Also, the drool on my keyboard is making it difficult to type…

‘Sail Away’ nautical style makeup bag from Avon
The nautical look was huge this summer, and this was very good news for me, because I love anything that reminds me of the seaside, or anything with navy and white stripes on it, basically. This ‘Sail Away’ makeup bag fron Avon is right on trend, then, but even if it wasn’t, it’s still a cute look for holidays, and the bag looks reasonably roomy, too, so it should comfortably hold your travel makeup collection – or a large part of it, at least. The best bit? It’s reduced to just £4.99 in the sale. Bargain.

Tea Tree Oil Invigorating Body Wash from The Body Shop
This will combat oil on the skin, help clear existing blemishes and prevent new ones, and the scent of the tea tree oil combined with lemon essential oil should help give your day a nice kick start. It contains glycerin to make sure your skin doesn’t get too dry, either.

Good Skin skincare products exclusive to Superdrug
There’s not a lot of information about this new product line on the Superdrug website, but I think the name "Good Skin" gives us a pretty decent idea what it’s all about, no? This is a range containing cleaners, toners, moisturisers and serums, all of which are fragrance free and available for every skin type. Prices range from £8 – £20, with most of the moisturisers coming in around the £12 range, so this isn’t too expensive and could be worth trying out if you’re in the market for a new skincare regime. Available exclusively from Superdrug. Peaches & Cream Foundation by Tarte
Also: I’m such a sucker for nice packaging/cute product names. Seriously. In all honestly, although the lure of skin like peaches & cream is a powerful one, the fact that Tarte’s limited edition foundation of the same is currently only available in three different shades makes me wonder how good a match this would be for my skintone. Still, the "soft, powdery finish" does sound nice, and I like the fact that this contains SPF 20. It also contains Vitamins A & C, to give your skin that bit of added protection. Sound good? Get it direct from the Tarte website for $35. La Prairie Cellular Cream Platinum Rare – the $1000 face cream
And why does this face cream contain platinum? Well, La Prairie say it can bond with human skin to "recharge the skin’s electrical balance with pure platinum to ensure ageless performance, protect the skin’s DNA, and replenish moisture continuously for a look of soft splendor." Umm. OK. But it’s still $1000, and for that price I’d want an absolute guarantee that I’d be getting that "look of soft splendour" before I’d be parting with any cash. Oh, and I’d also need access to someone else’s bank account, obviously. What about you? Would you pay $1000 for this? If you would, it’s available to pre-order now at Nordstrom.
