Dollface Reviews: Imperial Leather Foamburst shower gel in ‘Sunrise’
Readers, meet my new favourite thing….
This is Imperial Leather’s Foamburst, and it’s not just a shower gel – it’s a great shower gel. Trust me. It makes me feel happy first thing in the morning, and that seriously takes some doing, so it must be good.
The formula is gel-based, but when you apply it to your skin it instantly turns into this rich, creamy lather which feels totally luxurious. You only need a small amount of gel to create enough lather for your whole body, and it’s super-foamy, which makes it very nice to use.
Then there’s the smell. There are different varieties available, but I picked "Sunrise", which is described as "uplifting mandarin, lemon balm and ylang ylang". It smells citrusy and delicious (you can really pick up the notes of mandarin) and the combination of this, plus the bright yellow can it comes in, helps brighten up my dull winter mornings and make me think of summer. Which I miss.
Now, I have to admit, I can’t tell you a lot about this other than what it says on the can. I bought mine at Boots the Chemist this weekend, but I haven’t been able to find it on their website, or, indeed, track down anywhere else that sells this particular variety online. I think it was about £2.50, but I’m just guessing there, so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Regardless of the cost, though, I think it was worth it, and I’ll definitely be buying it again. Anything that makes getting out bed in the morning that little bit easier gets my vote for sure…
Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon Collection for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
As I mentioned last week, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Bobbi Brown is doing her bit with this Limited Edition Collection featuring her popular Tulle Lip Colour and Exclusive Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss, which come packaged in a pretty pink gift box.
This isn’t just paying lip service (no pun intended) to the cause, either – throughout October, Bobbi Brown will be donating the entire purchase price of this (minus VAT) to Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s research study at the Royal Marsden in London. In the Republic of Ireland, meanwhile, proceeds will go to Cancer Clinical Research Trust at St Vincents, Dublin.
The set costs £27 is available at Bobbi Brown counters nationwide.
RoC Hydra Bio Active Moisturising Cream
For the past week, I’ve been using RoC Hydra Bio Active Moisturising Cream as part of my daily skincare routine. This is part of a new range from Roc, which is designed to cater to especially sensitive skin, and while my skin doesn’t really fall into that category, I do appreciate the fact that this contains lots of natural ingredients, which RoC claim will help improve skin hydration by up to 50%.
The most interesting of these ingredients is the herb Feverfew. Now, I sometimes take Feverfew for migraines, which it’s rumoured to be able to prevent. It hasn’t worked for me in that respect, but what I didn’t realise until now is that it’s also apparently an anti-oxidant, and a pretty good one, too.
As for the cream itself, it comes in a squeezable bottle, and the formula is thick and white, a little bit like sunscreen, but thankfully much more easily absorbed. It’s available for dry, normal and combination skin, and because it’s been formulated for sensitive skin, it can even be used around the eye area if you wish.
I’ve been using this morning and night, and although the cream is thick, it isn’t greasy, so it works perfectly well under makeup. I like the delicate fragrance, and I really like the SPF 15. So far I haven’t noticed any great difference in the appearance of my skin, but I have only been using it for a week, and will continue to use it and see how I get on – it seems like it could be a good buy, especially for the winter months, which can be so hard on sensitive skin.

I showed you the Harajuku Lovers Eau de Toilette Sprays back in August, and now here’s the sold perfume versions, which are every bit as cute! The scents are the same as the Eau de Toilette, but this could be a better deal for those of you who can’t make up their minds which one they prefer, as they come as a set, meaning that you get to try all five for $50.
Dollface Reviews: AminoGenesis Perfect Reflection anti-aging serum
AnimoGenesis say their Perfect Reflection serum is "the most advanced anti-aging serum available anywhere". Now, that’s quite some claim, so let’s take a look at the science bit, first. This contains:
- 4 powerful anti-oxidants (Vitamin A, C, D and CoQ10)
- 17 plant derived amino acids
All of this good stuff will help to repair sun damage, hydrate the skin, reduce the appearance of dark spots, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and make your skin firmer, smoother and more elastic. All of this fades into insignificance, though, when you consider the non-science bit:
It smells just like lemon cheesecake. No, really.

The Sun Tanning Stencil Robe gives you a “sun tatto”, also cancer
Araargh! With my super-pale skin, I’ve long-since learned to avoid getting a sun-tan like you’d avoid an axe-wielding murderer running rampant through your home. So this idea totally freaks me out. As you can see from the picture, it’s basically a robe with lots of cut-out areas that allows you to get yourself a "sun tattoo". Lie in the sun long enough, though, and you’ll also get a good chance of developing skin cancer, which is the main reason I hate this, although to be honest, I probably wouldn’t like it even if it didn’t involve frying your skin. What do you think?

Pants Purses – a new way to carry your makeup
I love makeup and I also love lingerie. Do I love the two together? Er, possibly. Do I want to carry my makeup in my lingerie? Well, if the lingerie in question is one of these "Pants Purses" from I Want One of Those, I could just be tempted, if only to see the look on people’s faces when I pull out a pair of brightly coloured y-fronts next time I want to check my lipstick. Ralph Lauren launch new ‘Notorious’ fragrance
Anyone tried this yet? It’s Ralph Lauren’s new fragrance, "Notorious", and according to the marketing literature, its aim is to recall the golden days of Hollywood glamour.
Well, I’m all for that – there’s just not enough glamour in the world these days, and anything that adds a little bit more gets my vote, although clearly I’ll have to actually smell this before I can give it the official thumbs-up.
According to Nordstrom, the scent in question contains "intriguing notes of deep black currant, decadent chocolate cosmos and sensual patchouli musk". You can buy it there, with prices starting from $65, depending on the size of the bottle.
