Black nail polish has been popular for what feels like forever, but that could be about to change if Chanel's Haute Couture show this week is anything to go by: all of the models came down the catwalk in stark white nail polish – to match the stark white everything else, presumably.
I've only just managed to reconcile myself to the idea of dark polish on the fingers (I always like to be last on the bandwagon) and I think it'll possibly take me just as long to come round to the idea of white: I'm not sure why, but there's something about it that's just never really appealed to me, although it did look good on the catwalk, especially given that almost everything else was white too.
You'll find more pictures from the show over at The Fashion Police, but tell me: what do you think of white nails?

Used to wear white varnish ages ago (1998-99), and it looked quite good on my paler-than-pale hands, so you might like to try and see for yourself. Don’t quite like the look of it on people with darker complexion, to be honest. As for the black, love that too, it looks great on short nails – if you’re going for the rock star look, that is.
There is something incredibly unhealthy-looking about white nail polish.
White polish always makes me think of the rather lo-fi attempts at primary school to avoid the nail polish bans by colouring in nails with tippex. It makes me shudder for that reason. I’ll be sticking to the dark stuff.
Holly – yes! You’ve just pinpointed why it is this makes me feel uncomfortable, it’s because it reminds me of the old “tippex on the nails” thing!
Although I admit that white nail polish isn’t a look for everyone (like black, which I cannot wear), but some people do manage to pull it off (I’ve got medium skin, so the contrast isn’t too high or low).
I’ve been wearing white nail polish for years, but hope that it doesn’t become a huge fad like Chanel’s black polish (which popularized that whole fad in the first place), or else I will be terribly upset.
I find it’s best in the middle of summer with your cotton and linen whites. It offers a little bit of contrast and works best when the rest of your outfit isn’t terribly flashy or loud (although it’s fantastic on the club scene too, :] )
This one gets a neigh from me. I used to have white nail polish when I was about 14, didn’t let it get near me ever since. I love my dark red and I would never cheat on it
I hate white nail polish with a passion so fierce, my anger could melt away the varnish on offenders’ digits.
