I'm having a Bad Face Day. Actually, scratch that: I'm having a bad face week. You see, I have the cold. (I also have a huge spot the size of a second head, smack in the middle of my forehead, but that's another post altogether…) As well as making me feel like hell, it's also been making me look like hell: red nose, dull skin – oh, and the tickly cough has stopped me sleeping too well, which means I get giant eye bags and dark shadows into the bargain.
No, I'm not looking my best, it has to be said.
At times like this, however, I thank the Lord that I'm a makeup addict. It means I have at least a few weapons at my disposal to try and beat the Bad Face Day blues. Here, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury gives us her tips for how to look good even when you don't feel it – take a look under the jump to read them!
Charlotte says:
- always add more coverage on the face as you tend go red AND drained – so to perk up the complexion – always wear a hydrating foundation (myface mymix foundation).
- It is so important that the foundation is hydrating so it doesn't dry out the skin even more – myface is water based so it simply glides on the skin and gives an immediate glow which you tend to lose when u have a cold.
- always apply lots of concealer around nose – and reapply frequently throughout day.
- Under eye concealer is key too!!
- always wear a little more blush than normal for the same reason! try to steer away from a bronzer as this can go yellowey when you are washed out making the complexion muddy.
- eyes tend to become swollen and red which make them 'disappear' – so always wear more mascara than normal and always curl eyelashes first to open the eyes.
- fill in chapped or dry lips with the nude lipliners which help to bring out your pout once again. Always use a lipgloss or lipsticks which again are very hydrating – lipsticks can sometime be drying on already dry lips which can feel v uncomfortable when you are all blocked up.
- And don't forget the eye drops!
In this article, Charlotte makes reference to myface cosmetics, which is a brand I'm going to be reviewing some products from next week, so check back then if you want to read more about them.
