Soap & Glory Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion

Glow job Soap & Glory Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion

"Glow job"? Oh, Soap & Glory, you really have excelled yourselves this time…

This is a "radiance boosting" moisturiser, but unlike some of its ilk, where the word "radiance" is used to describe an indefinable "you'll look better, but we can't really explain why" state of being, in this case things are a lot clearer, because when they say "radiance boosting" they basically mean "it's a bronzer".

Yes, Glow Job contains micro Bronzeburst beads which, when the lotion is rubbed onto your face (or between your fingers), will "erupt", leaving you with a bronze glow. This is purely a temporary effect, though, and it'll wash off when you wash your face, so it's basically a bronzer/moisturiser in one. Sounds pretty interesting, actually, because it will hydrate the skin as well as making it "glow".

Anna Lou Of London Navy & Orange Vanity Case

Anna lou of london Anna Lou Of London Navy & Orange Vanity Case

This vanity case is shiny and has a giant bow on the front, which means that even although it looks a little bit like a child's toy, there was never much chance of me being able to resist showing it to you. And actually, if I hadn't already spent all my money on dresses (five this month so far. That's just not right, is it?) I probably wouldn't be able to resist buying it either, to use as my holiday makeup case.

It's £35, though, and while that's not exactly a sum you'd need to remortgage the house for, it's a little more than I can justify spending on a makeup bag when I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks. If you can justify, it, though, and you don't mind feeling a bit like a child playing dress-up, it also comes in pink or a metallic lilac colour, and you can buy it as ASOS.com.

Pronto Colore Root Touch-Up & Highlighting Pen – wash out hair dye

Hair dye pen Pronto Colore Root Touch Up & Highlighting Pen wash out hair dye

I've never dyed my hair, but, being the lazy sod I am, I'd imagine that if I did, the root maintenance would probably start to drive me crazy after a while. Would it be annoying enough to make me reach for what is essentially a magic marker for your hair? Er, possibly. Maybe those of you who've actually been in that situation can let me know your thoughts…

This is Pronto's Colore Root Touch-Up & Highlighting Pen, and it's exactly what it sounds like: hair colour in a handy pen format, that you use to basically paint out your roots/greys between trips to the salon or sessions with the home dye kit. It's very much a temporary solution, because it'll wash out next time you wash your hair, but I guess it could come in handy for regrowth you don't have time to deal with, and they seem to have pre-empted all of the concerns I'd have about using it, in that it's ammonia and peroxide free, fast-drying, waterproof (so you won't jump into the pool and leave a trail of hair colour behind you), and apparently never clumps.

Fancy giving it a go? If you do, it's $23, and comes in five different colours, available from www.sephora.com Pronto Colore Root Touch Up & Highlighting Pen wash out hair dye.

Harajuku Lovers ‘Love’ fragrance gift set

Harajuku lovers fragrance Harajuku Lovers Love fragrance gift set

I still haven't got round to trying any of the Harajuku Lovers fragrances, but I already think I might love them, purely because of the cute little Harajuku doll packaging. Yes, I AM that easily swayed when it comes to products!

This set is $57 from Sephora and includes 1 oz Eau de Toilette Spray and a 0.04 oz Solid Perfume. According to te description, the scent itself is "romantic sensual", otherwise I'd have said this would make a great gift for a little girl/teenager. As it is, it would make a good gift for, well, me, because even if I didn't like the scent, I'd probably enjoy putting the little dolls on my dressing table. If I actually had a dressing table, that is. Note to self: get dressing table. Put pretty bottles of scent on it.

Heal-A-Heel moisture socks by Go Girl heal cracked heels

Cracked heels Heal A Heel moisture socks by Go Girl heal cracked heels

Beauty confession time: does anyone actually do that whole "apply foot cream then wear socks to bed" thing we're all supposed to be doing to keep our feet nice and soft? Because trust me, I've tried, but at this time of year even Dollface Towers is too warm for bed socks, so I always end up putting it off until "tomorrow", which, as we know, never actually comes, does it?

These 'Heal-a-Heel' socks by Go Girl, however, are designed to address this very problem, allowing you to heal your cracked heels without having to sacrifice your comfort in bed. As you can see, they're minus a toe, which means they'll probably look a little "surgical" when you wear them, even despite the pink colour, but at least they won't make your feet too hot. The heel also contains a "moisture zone" in the heel, which helps to lock in moisture – just slather on some of your favourite foot cream before you wear them for best results. Apparently this moisture zone will last for around three months, and they can be hand washed in soapy water.

Dollface of the Day: Drew Barrymore in blue eyeshadow at a rally against Prop 8

Spl101755 005[1] Dollface of the Day: Drew Barrymore in blue eyeshadow at a rally against Prop 8

Kudos to Drew Barrymore for getting out and protesting against Prop 8 in Califormia this week (along with a bunch of other celebrities). I'm not generally a fan of this particular shade of blue on the eyes, but I really like the way she's applied it on the lower lids here, and I think it really works with her neutral lip gloss and the cute-but-comfortable jeans, sneakers and leather jacket she was wearing, as well as with the gently tousled hair. Lovely.

La Prairie Pure Gold Cellular Radiance Concentrate beauty serum

La prairie La Prairie Pure Gold Cellular Radiance Concentrate beauty serum

La Prairie's Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold serum costs £354 per bottle, so you could be forgiven for taking the name literally and assuming that it's actually made of pure gold. I certainly did.

It's not, though, although it does contain quartz liquid crystals and reflective pigments. Just not the same, though, is it?

This is a serum, and despite the lack of actual gold, it does sound like a pretty good one. It will:

    • * brighten the skin immediately
      * reduce age spots
      * plump lines and wrinkles within one hour of use
      * exfoliate the skin
      * enhance natural collagen production, so your skin should start to look younger and less wrinkly with continued use.
    • Sounds good, then, but as I said, it's £354, so it's not going to be joining the throng of skincare products in my bathroom cabinet anytime soon, if, indeed, ever. If you want to try it, though, it's available from Harrods.

Why I love my eyelash curlers. (And my Lancome L’Extreme Waterproof mascara!)

In response to a request from Ola at A Slick of Gloss, here are some quick comparison shots to illustrate just why it is that I keep banging on endlessly about:

a) my love for eyelash curlers

b) my love for Lancome L'Extreme Waterproof Mascara

So, here are my eyelashes:

Eyelashes Why I love my eyelash curlers. (And my Lancome LExtreme Waterproof mascara!)

And here are my eyelashes on drugs after they've been curled. I use the shu uemura Mini Eyelash Curler Why I love my eyelash curlers. (And my Lancome LExtreme Waterproof mascara!), but I'm going to make a shocking beauty confession here and admit that, although it's good, I don't think it's that much better than many of the cheaper versions I've used over the years.

Curled eyelashes Why I love my eyelash curlers. (And my Lancome LExtreme Waterproof mascara!)

As you can see, the curled eyelashes make my eyes look wider, but the difference isn't particularly dramatic, and without mascara, the curl will drop out pretty soon anyway. Enter Lancome L'Extreme…

Clix Hair Extensions: clip in human hair from Superdrug

Hair extensions Clix Hair Extensions: clip in human hair from Superdrug

I have to admit that human hair isn't something I've ever purchased before, although I am having a lot of fun imagining the kind of conversations such a purchase would lead to. "Honey! I'm just off to buy some human hair! Can I get you some?"

These Clix Hair Extensions are made of exactly that, though, although there is also a synthetic version available. These are the DIY approach to hair extensions – they simply clip into your head with a fastening that's supposed to be invisible once you're wearing them, and then come right back out at the end of the day. In other words, they're an easy way to change your hair for a short period of time, which means they could be handy to have around Dollface Towers for those frequent bad hair days I have.

There are various different colours available and they cost £8.79 per pack from Superdrug. Anyone tried them?
