My "trouble" with Benefit is that I think they peddle the "money for old rope" philosophy better than almost any other brand I can think of. They jack up the price on the most simplistic of products (e.g. lipliner, concealer) by giving it a zingy name and swathing it in unnecessary - albeit kitsch & cute - packaging. Great fun for the marketing & copywriting team in HQ, but for me it is a turnoff. See, they never do a plain old eyeshadow palette, period. They'll package your basic neutral/brown/grey in a little cardbox box, name it something like "Smouldering Susan's Sexy Saucers" - give you a stating-the-bloody-obvious how-to guide on the inside cover, then sell it at c.30% more than you'd ordinarily spend on a similar niche brand.
