Remember those matte nails that were on all the catwalks last year? Well, they’re sticking around for this Autumn, too, and while I’m still not quite sure what I think of the look (I tend to associate matte nails with polish that got something stuck to it while it was drying, and I need to rid myself of that association before I can fully buy into the look), if you love it, Boots No. 7′s Matte Nail Top Coat (£7.25) will be a helluva lot cheaper than buying matte nail polishes in lots of different colours.
This is, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed, a top coat which makes the polish underneath it look matte. It works with just one coat, and it’s part of Boots limited edition Autumn range (about which I’ll have more news and reviews soon), which is available from now until October 5th.

I love it, I’ve bought myself something similar (from a local brand) and it’s been a favourite ever since. Some of my polishes tend to look grandma-esque (in my opinion) but turn into really sophisticated shades when I add a matte layer on top. Also, the matte coating makes it easier to wear bolder and brighter colours, they wont seem too flashy or give that look-at-me vibe
I personally don’t like matte nail polish. It looks like you didn’t rub in your hand lotion.
E.L.F. has a cheaper version of this topcoat that works fine. I don’t like the look regardless; I feel like when I look at my fingernails, I like them to be shiny — The one matte polish I bought gets topped with three coats of shiny topcoat every time i wear it. Otherwise, it feels as if I look like I got sidetracked in the midst of removing my nailpolish.
I don’t like matte polish, to me it always looks like you didn’t wait long enough for your nails to dry and smudged the polish.
Yesss! I love matte nail polish. I was looking for it but this is much cheaper.
Matte nail polish looks like u padded ur freshly painted nails on some fabric and it totally ruined them.
I think it looks really good. I have the Topshop matte topcoat, which is a bit cheaper than the No7 one, and it works really well. The only downside is if you put it on too thick or it smudges it does end up looking like you haven’t let your nails dry for long enough..
