Flase_eyelashes Question: do I put on mascara first with false eyelashes or after?

Definitely after – if you feel the need to use it at all. If you put the mascara on first, the false lashes will be sticking to your mascara rather than to your own eyelashes. Not only will that make them feel less secure, it won’t look so great, either.

By applying your mascara after your false eyelashes, the mascara will help bond the lashes to your own, and will also cover over any glue that’s still visible, making the application look more natural, even if the lashes themselves don’t!

How to wear this Fall’s black lip look

Lancome_gloss

Last week, Amy posted this question: "I wonder if you have suggestions for how to pull of this fall’s dark lip with my very pale complexion. Or should I just give up?"

I’m sure Amy’s not the only one who looked at the dark lips on the Fall catwalks and thought, "How the hell am I supposed to pull THAT off in real life?" I know I did, and, like Amy, I have the palest of pale complexions, which just adds to the problem as the dark lips will basically make me look like a vampire who just finished dinner. Umm, yeah.

There is an answer, though, and it’s an answer I haven’t tried myself, so no one blame me if it doesn’t work! The answer is… black lip gloss!

Dear Dollface: Mascara without the smudges

Dollface Amy writes,

Dear Dollface,

I know you’re a bit of a mascara queen, so I’m hoping you can enlighten me on how to actually apply the stuff without getting it all over my eyelids? I have fairly long lashes, and every time I apply my mascara, no matter how carefully I do it, I’ll end up with bits of mascara all over my eye socket and lid. Help! What am I doing wrong?" ~ Amy

I recently became a mom… the best thing in the world beyond compare… but the sleepless nights etc has me looking less than fab. Do you have any recommendations for a quick-step product that will brighten me up without having to put on makeup everyday? Makeup does work great, but i don’t have the time or inclination to do it everyday.

I tried Body Shop Illuminating Moisture Cream, but it just gives me a weird iridescent glow. I would love to be able to walk by the mirror and not go ”Ugh!” … or scare hubby too much either.

Thanks for any help!

Theresa.

P.S. I am brown-skinned (if that makes any difference

Ask Dollface: A product to brighten the skin

The Dollface mailbag is bulging at the moment, so if I’ve been slow in answering your questions (and for that read, "If you asked me a question months ago, and still haven’t had a response…) please accept my most humble apologies, and be assured that I’m not ignoring you: I’m just very, very busy and I’ll get round to you soon!

Now, on with the show…

Caroline writes…

Dear Dollface,

I have a very simple beauty and make up routine and have never paid too much attention to my face base. I moisturise twice a day and use concealer when needed and that’s about it. However, recently I’ve noticed my skin tone is less even and I’m using more and more concealer to try to even it out. I think I need to use a foundation, but don’t even know where to start. I really don’t want to look like its been layered on with a trowel, just a teeny bit more even-toned! Oh, and also, am a redhead, so need something that comes in very fair-skinned shades!

Any advice?!

Caroline
