Category Archives: Celebrity BeautyPaloma Faith’s makeup at the Cervical Cancer Charity ConcertAhem! Looks like I have some competition in the “Dollface” stakes, in the shape of UK singer Paloma Faith, who seems to have taken the word “dollface” literally for her appearance at the Cervical Cancer Charity in London last night. Paloma isn’t really one to play it safe, either with what she wears, or with what she chooses to put on her face as this look proves: she’s gone for a “tear” effect on the eyes, and what I think of as “Aunt Sally blusher”, worn with false eyelashes, red lipsticks and heavy brows. She’s as pretty as always, but what do you think of this look? Delightfully different or just a little bit too much? Celebrity Beauty: Ashley Olsen in black lipstick atThe Art of Elysium’s 3rd Annual Black Tie Charity GalaOK, so this lipstick isn’t totally “black”: I’d say it’s black blended with red, for a very gothic look, which Ashley Olsen really played up at the Art of Elysium’s 3rd Annual Black Tie Charity Gala, in a dress which was very “corpse bride”, especially when combined with the dark lips and dishevelled hair do. Dark lipstick keeps popping up on the red carpet this season: what do you think of it on Ashley Olsen here? Beauty Looks from The People’s Choice Awards
Most people seemed to favour a very natural look for this event, which meant that Nicole Scherzinger (above) was one of the few women who went for a bold makeup look. Anywhere else, this heavy eye-makeup would’ve looked totally overdone, and some of you may feel it STILL looks totally overdone, but she IS on the red carpet, and I think she’s getting away with the look. Leighton Meester’s makeup at the American Eagle opening: what do you think?![]() Leighton Meester at the American Eagle store opening Do you subscribe to the old “lips OR eyes” look, readers? Leighton Meester’s makeup artist obviously doesn’t: here’s Leighton looking almost unrecognisable at the opening of American Eagle’s new Times Square store in heavy eye makeup, heavy foundation, and bright red lipstick. On their own, I think any one of these would’ve worked just fine. All together, though… well, I love Leighton, but I’m not really loving this particular look on her, it has to be said. What do you think? Celebrity Beauty: Heather Mills goes grey
I did a double take when I saw this photo of Heather Mills at the 2009 Celebrity Catwalk in Hollywood last night: last time I saw a photo of Heather, she was as blonde as ever, but now she seems to have gone grey. I’m not sure whether this is her natural colour and she’s just decided to stop dyeing it, or whether she’s actually dyed it this colour, but … well, there’s no doubt that this colour is pretty ageing on her, no? Of course, Heather may have just decided she’s had enough of the hair dye and fair enough, if so. Personally, I fully intend to keep my colour for as long as possible without looking ridiculous, but what do you think, readers? Will you be reaching for the hair dye when you start to go grey, or will you just let nature take its course? Celebrity Dollfaces: Red lipstick for Rachel Nichols & Sienna Miller at the GI Joe premiere
Rachel Nichols and Sienna Miller both brought a touch of old-style Hollywood glamour to the G.I. Joe premiere last week, with their bright red lipstick, strong browns and fluttery lashes. They both went for long, loose curls, too, and looked absolutely gorgeous: I love this kind of look, which is so easy to do, but so glamorous, too. Clearly Sienna and Rachel would look beautiful without any help at all, but for the rest of us, a simple tube of red lipstick can work wonders, and make you look instantly more polished and “dressed up”: well, it can as long as you don’t get it on your teeth, obviously… Rihanna’s giant quiff: what do you think of it?
Rihanna is a braver woman than me, that's all I can say. She showed up at the London premiere of Inglorious Basterds (no, that's not a typo, by the way) with a giant quiff, lots of pearls and some rather fabulous makeup. I love the eyeliner and bright red lipstick, and I actually think she's one of the few people in the world who can carry off the hairdo. I'm not one of them, needless to say, but are you? What do you think of Rihanna's new 'do?
