Category Archives: Foot CareHand Job and Pussy Foot – embarrassingly named beauty products![]() Oh dear. I really hate to think what kind of Google searches people are going to use to end up at this post… Those people are obviously going to be very disappointed, though, because these are beauty products. Yes, BEAUTY PRODUCTS. That you use to make your hands and feet soft. Get your minds out of the gutter people! These come from Etsy (of course!) and there’s no information about the ingredients, but then, I don’t think that’s the point somehow, do you? Would you buy a product called Hand Job? If you would, you can get it here. Ped Egg – the new footfile in town
This is certainly much cheaper than the Microplane, at just $10, and those icky dead skin cells (hope you weren’t eating!) are collected inside the "egg", Microplane do a file with a container too, but the one I have is the regular version, which allows those gross bits to fall out onto the floor. Yeah. Isn’t that a lovely image I’ve just put into your head. You can thank me later. You can buy this direct from the Ped Egg site, or pick one up at places like Target. Anyone tried it?

Butter London’s Stiletto Stick for dry, cracked heels
I’ve mentioned this before, but if you’re going to be flashing your feet at all, it’s essential to make sure they’re looking smooth and crack-free, which is why a product like Butter London’s Stiletto Stick becomes a must-have during the summer months. This comes in a solid stick formula, and is a non-greasy treatment for dry heels, which promises to make your feet look stiletto-ready once more. I haven’t tried this myself, so all I can say is that for £25 it better be good… Buy: Butter London stiletto stick, £25

Avon Foot Works Pedi Peel for perfect feet
Although the name makes it sound like these are some kind of "face peel" for the feet, they’re actually abrasive pads which you use on any tough skin or callouses (lovely!), to leave the skin soft and pretty. They get rave reviews on the Avon website, and are only $4.99 per tub. Worth a shot, maybe? Buy: Avon Foot Works Pedi Peel pads, $4.99 Footessentials natural foot care range launches
Athletes foot. Fungal infections. Verrucas. I really hope you weren’t eating when you started reading this post… No, the things our feet are prone to picking up rarely make pleasant conversational subjects, but Footessentials new range of essential oils manage to make treating them sound about as pleasant as foot-treatments get. With names like ‘Warm that Sole’, ‘Nourish that Nail’, ‘Ditch that Itch’ and ‘Banish that Blotch’, you probably won’t need me to spell out just what these are supposed to do for you, will you? What I will tell you is that the oils have various therapeutic benefits, including anti-fungal, antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties which help to rejuvenate the skin and optimise foot health. The formulations include ingredients such as ginger, used for its antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties, marjoram for its antiseptic and comforting elements and peppermint for its revitalising and restorative actions. Sound good? Get them at http://www.footessentials.co.uk for £7.95 each.

Beach Feet – Foaming Lemon Sherbet Foot Soak
As well as my beloved Microplane Foot File, it’s at this time of year that I always end up spending money on lots of different products designed to make my feet look like they’ve never been near a stiletto heel in their lives. This one is called Beach Feet, appropriately enough, and it’s by Ciaté, and it has two purposes, both of which sound good to me… The first of those is to soften up the hard, dead skin on your feet (lovely, I know) and make it easier to remove, while the other is to simply soothe your tired tootsies, by allowing you to sink them into a bath of lemon sherbet, so even if you can’t get to the beach yourself, you can still dip your toes in the water and pretend! Buy: Beach Feet, $13.95 Dollface Reviews: The Body Shop’s Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion
As the name suggests, this is a great product to apply to hot, tired, shopped-out feet. The scent of the peppermint oil alone is enough to revive your tired feet (and spirits) and it also contains cocoa butter, plus almond and grape seed oil, to give them back some moisture, too. The formula has changed slightly since I was a kid, and it’s now being billed as the "new, improved formula" although I don’t notice any huge difference. It’s £8 for a 250ml bottle, and is also available as a foot scrub, spray and mask. Remember! If it’s your first online purchase from The Body Shop, you can save 10% by entering coupon code DHAD000857 at checkout.

Natalie Imbruglia and Salma Hayek love Holistic Silk’s massaging slippers
They use magnets to target reflexology points on the soles of your feet, improving your circulation and generally leaving you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. Oh, and they’re a lot prettier than some of the huge, fluffy slippers you see around! They’re apparently favourites of Natalie Imbruglia and Salma Hayek, but you may well need a celebrity bank balance to buy them, because they cost £65 per pair, which is a helluva lot more than I tend to pay for my slippers, that’s for sure!

Dollface Reviews: Boots Gorgeous Feet Incredibly Intensive Moisturiser
Sadly for me, thinking about it is all I’m going to be doing for the moment, because I used the last drop of this yesterday. I will definitely buy it again, though, and not just for the smell: this is a product that does exactly what it does on the tin. It’s an "incredibly intensive moisturiser" for the feet, according to the label, and incredibly intensive moisturising action is what you get. I prefer to use this overnight, lathering it on and then wearing socks so it doesn’t rub off, and I’d always wake up to softer skin than I went to bed with, so it’s doing something right. Not bad, especially when you consider it’s only £4.29.

Beauty Product Review: Microplane Foot File
This is probably way too much information for most of you, but my feet? Suck. Well, I mean, they don’t literally suck – they’re feet, after all. But years of dedicated stiletto wear have left them looking rather the worse for wear. I have skin so hard on the soles of my feet that I could probably walk across hot coals and not feel a thing. Seriously. Over the years I’ve tried just about every type of foot file and foot cream imaginable. Nothing has worked. But with my wedding coming up a few months ago, and a pair of beautiful new shoes to wear to it, I was ready to try anything – which is why the relatively expensive Microplane Look after the jump to see how I got on…
