Category Archives: Makeup Bags & BoxesLulu Guinness ‘I Love Makeup’ Bag
It’s £55, which is rather a lot, considering that it only looks big enough to carry those daily essentials most of us cart around with us (or is that just me), but if it tickles your fancy, you can buy yourself one at My-Wardrobe. Paper Plane vintage postcard makeup purse
This little makeup purse doesn’t look like it’s going to hold a huge amount of cosmetics, but does look the perfect size to tote around those everyday essentials – you know, the lipstick, concealer and whatever else you just can’t do with out and must have on your person at all times. This is £14.99, and it’s available here. Miss Budd London handmade satin shoes print cosmetics bagShoe-lover that I am, this little makeup bag could almost have been made for me! Cute shoes, my favourite, polka-dot print and enough space to carry all of my favourite cosmetics, too: it’s retail heaven! This is £25 and is available from ASOS.com. Kate Spade ‘Patchin Place makeup bagAt $50, this Kate Spade makeup bag is about $30 more than I’d normally spend on something I’m just going to mess up with spilt cosmetic, but what can I say: I have a bit of a weakness for airmail-themed products. (No, really…) It’s certainly very cute, but I think I’d like it better if it was matt white, rather than clear: I have a feeling that the jumble of makeup inside would spoil the effect just a little bit, here. Whew, $50 saved!

Polka dot bow vanity cases from Topshop
Lately I’ve been just a little bit obsessed with polka dots (even more so than I usually am, I mean), and luckily for me, this has coincided with many of my favourite fashion retailers becoming obsessed with them too. These little polka dot vanity cases are from Topshop, and come in white, navy and black. My main problem would be deciding which colour to buy, but if you think you can choose between them, they’re £45, and you can buy them here. Anya Hindmarch Lips and Eyes canvas cosmetics case
I’ve mentioned before that makeup bags tend to be a budget buy for me – partly because my collection lives in my Sephora case day-today, and only moves into a bag for travel purposes, but also because I can’t seem to own makeup without spilling it and generally making a mess with it, so I don’t want to pay too much for something that will be filthy within the week! I’m going to leave this one for the rest of you, then, because while it’s not hideously expensive, at £45, it IS also white – and soon wouldn’t be once I got my hands on it. For the less clumsy among you, then, it’s by Anya Hindmarch, and is available at Net-a-Porter. Modella Black And White Spot Mini Vanity Case
The fact that the word “mini” is used to describe this vanity case tells me that it probably wouldn’t be a whole lot of use to me, even for travel purposes. I don’t like to travel light, you see. The fact that it has polka dots on it and only costs £6, however, tells me that I’m probably going to covet it anyway. Well, you can always use another makeup bag, can’t you? Shu Uemura limited edition makeup box
From a $1000 face cream to a $500 makeup box. Well, it’s been that kind of day, hasn’t it? And I guess if you DID want to buy the moisturiser I showed you earlier, you’re going to want something equally luxurious to keep it in. Well, this Shu Uemura makeup case certainly looks the part from the outside at least: there are no pictures of the inside, so I’m going to assume it’s lined with gold or something. It’s limited edition and, as I said, costs $500. Pretty, but no way would my makeup be getting near that. Well, I wouldn’t want it to get dirty, would I? Shu Uemura makeup box, $500

ASOS bright red moc croc vanity case with animal print lining
Vanity cases have never struck me as being particularly practical: they trend not to have compartments inside them to stop all of your makeup from rolling around, and because airlines have so many restrictions these days on what you can and can't take on board with you, they're not much use for travel, either. I really wish they were, though: they harken back to a more glamorous age, when people used to actually dress up for travel, and for that reason alone, I love them. This red one is particularly glam, with its moc-croc fabric and animal print lining. And even if it never leaves the house, it could make a really cute piece of cosmetic storage for your bedroom. It's £28 from ASOS.com
