Estee Lauder perfume compacts – bulldog, sand pail and lobster
Wow. Well, I think these have to be some of the most original compacts I’ve seen in a while! They’re all limited edition and hold solid versions of some of Estee Lauder’s most popular scents. The prices, as you would expect, are head-spinning, but I guess you are getting something very unusual for your hard earned cash!

Monsoon releases a Fragrance
If you’re a fan of Monsoon’s clothing and accessories, you may be interested to know that the brand has just released its own perfume, too. Called simply "Monsoon Fragrance" , this is released in conjunction with Bronnley, and attempts to capture the slightly bohemian vibe that Monsoon have always gone for in their stores and clothing.
The perfume contains notes of Neroli and Bergamot infused with Morrocan Rose Oil for a distinctive fusion that is richly scented. Base notes of eastern spices with a hint of warm woods and hot amber oils complement undertones of Bourgainvillea Petal, and as well as the fragrance itself, there’s also a body lotion, shower cream and body spray available.

Dollface Reviews: Jean Paul Gaultier Fragile Eau de Parfum
For the last few days, I’ve been cheating on my perfume. In fact, it’s gotten so serious, I’m thinking of leaving it altogether and starting a new relationship with Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fragile, so great is my current infatuation with this scent.
For years now, you see, I’ve been faithful to Gaultier’s Classique. (At least I’m keeping it "in the family, then, so to speak…) It’s my signature scent, and while I’ll flirt with all of the pretty bottles in the duty free lounge just as much as the next girl, Classique is always the scent that comes home with me.
A few months ago, though, Mr Dollface bought me a Gaultier gift set, which included miniatures of his perfumes, including Fragile. Instantly, I was smitten, but I still had an unopened bottle of Classique to get through, so I pushed Fragile to the back of my mind. This week, though, I rediscovered it. And now I think I may just have a new "signature scent"….
Dollface Reviews: Ralph Lauren ‘Notorious’
When I mentioned Ralph Lauren’s new ‘Notorious’ fragrance last month I hadn’t had the opportunity to actually try it out. Well, this week I did, and it’s every bit as lovely as the sumptuous marketing campaign suggests.
Going by the name, packaging and the old-style glamour of the adverts, I was expecting something very heavy and musky, perhaps along the same lines as Poison or Obsession - very "femme fatale" and a little bit dark, if that makes sense.
Uh-uh. Notorious is actually on the sweet side, which isn’t surprising when you read the product description: notes of blackcurrant, chocolate cosmos, patchouli and musk make up this scent, and account for the lingering sweetness. Unlike some sweet scents, however, this is anything but sickly and not at all cloying: I can’t detect the chocolate or vanilla notes at all, and so there’s nothing foody about it.
This is a scent that lingers for a long time: I applied it in the morning and could still smell it in the late afternoon. More importantly, it still smelt the same by late afternoon, which is a Very Good Thing.

This scent is super-duper sweet with a cherry or three on top, so if you don’t like sweet smells, it probably won’t be for you. If you do, however, it contains notes of black cherries, framboise, plum, orchid, freesia, iris, musk, amber and vanilla and, although the name suggests a sultry, sexy, nighttime fragrance, to me it smells more like the kind of thing you’d wear on a summer’s day.
Kylie Minogue’s ‘Showtime’ fragrance – 15% off at Beauty Counter Direct for Hey Dollface readers!
Regular readers will already know that I’m a sucker for a pretty perfume bottle, so when I opened up Kylie Minogue’s ‘Showtime’ late last week, I gave a little "ooh" of pleasure. It’s pretty, you see. Also: pink. It is, in other words, the perfect perfume for anyone who’s looking for a super-feminine, super-sweet scent that’ll also look nice on your dressing table.
The scent itself is fruity and floral, which makes perfect sense when you find out what’s in it. According to the makers, it’s "A tantalizing cocktail of wild strawberry, loganberry and blackcurrant with roses, blue freesias and lilacs with overtones of sweet liquorice all balanced with magnetic notes of rosewood, white musk and a vanilla accord."
"Sweet", then, is probably the best word to describe this, although I didn’t find it at all sickly. Mr Dollface, who likes sweet scents, loved this one, and I found it light and easy to wear – the vanilla notes are strongest for me, which makes it rather edible!

Harajuku Lovers Coffret Solids
I showed you the Harajuku Lovers Eau de Toilette Sprays back in August, and now here’s the sold perfume versions, which are every bit as cute! The scents are the same as the Eau de Toilette, but this could be a better deal for those of you who can’t make up their minds which one they prefer, as they come as a set, meaning that you get to try all five for $50.
Ralph Lauren launch new ‘Notorious’ fragrance
Anyone tried this yet? It’s Ralph Lauren’s new fragrance, "Notorious", and according to the marketing literature, its aim is to recall the golden days of Hollywood glamour.
Well, I’m all for that – there’s just not enough glamour in the world these days, and anything that adds a little bit more gets my vote, although clearly I’ll have to actually smell this before I can give it the official thumbs-up.
According to Nordstrom, the scent in question contains "intriguing notes of deep black currant, decadent chocolate cosmos and sensual patchouli musk". You can buy it there, with prices starting from $65, depending on the size of the bottle.
Jo Malone Red Roses Cologne – in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October 1st marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which means we can expect to see a lot of pink-themed products hit the shelves, most of which aim to help charity as well as make us look and smell good.
Jo Malone’s Red Roses Cologne is just one of them. This scent is made with rose oils from all over the world, combined with crushed violet leaves and notes of lemon and spearmint. Sounds gorgeous, and for each 100ml purchase, the company will donated £5 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundations research programme at the Royal Marsden Institute of Cancer Research.
Lalique Amethyst Crystal Flacon perfume
I haven’t tried this perfume, so it appears here mostly on the merit of its pretty, pretty bottle. I mean, seriously, lookit the pretty bottle! It makes me want to buy it, and then buy one of those old-fashioned dressing tables so I could scatter it with pretty little perfume bottles in lots of different colours. Or at least it did, until I discovered it costs $800. Eight. Hundred. Dollars. Gulp.
This line is by Lalique, and its inspired by the René Lalique"Epines"collection of 1920, which explains the old-fashioned flacon. It contains top notes of blackberry leaves, blackcurrant, and raspberry, middle notes of white lily, peony, and wild rose and base notes of musk, sensual wood, and vanilla.
