Category Archives: Product LaunchesMore products for pale skin from the Nicola Roberts/Dainty Doll range
I loved the colour of the original Dainty Doll foundation, but didn’t love the texture, so I’m really excited to learn that there’ll be a new mineral foundation as part of this launch, along with more concealers, plus blusher, lipsticks and more. You can take a look under the jump to read a bit more about these products: I’m really hoping to get my hands on some of them when they become available, in which case you can expect reviews of some of them, too. In the meantime, these will all be available exclusively from Harrods from August 24th, and then at ASOS.com from the end of September. Boots No. 7 Decades Collection launches todayOne of my favourite brands, Boot’ No. 7, is 75 years old this year, and to celebrate, they’ve just launched their Decades Collection, which allows you to recreate some of the most iconic looks from the past seven decades. Using the most popular colours from each decade, the collection comprises eye, lip and nail colours, and there’s also a £14 ‘Hero’ compact which sums up the No. 7 look. My favourite of the looks created by No7 creative director and make-up artist, Lisa Eldridge, would have to be the 1960s face (above), which uses the products pictured below, although I’m also loving the red lips and nails of the 1940s look, too. Take a look under the jump to see some more, and click here to browse the products at the Boots website! More Twilight-themed makeup to coincide with the New Moon launch
Yes, folks, the Twilight bandwagon is well and truly in town, and the beauty world has enthusiastically jumped aboard. I’ve already shown you DuWop’s ‘Twilight Venom’, but now here’s a whole range of makeup inspired by the books/films/the desire to make money. With names like “Just Bitten Staining Balm” and “Immortal” body shimmer, these are clearly designed to appeal to Twilight fans, and whether they’ll appeal to anyone else will depend very much on the quality of the products, and whether there’s anything about them that will make them last beyond the final film. If you want to find out for yourself whether that’s the case, the range is available at ASOS.com, and you can take a look at it here. Meanwhile, here’s Kristin Stewart’s makeup (probably NOT Twilight branded) from the New Moon LA premiere: ![]() Kristin Stewart, New Moon premiere

Benefit One Hot Minute sexy in seconds face powder
Ah, I love a new Benefit release, especially one designed to give me a “gaze at me glow” – that’s their words, not mine, as if you couldn’t guess. This is One Hot Minute, and it’s essentially a face powder, but as it’s designed to provide that oft talked about “radiance” that’s so important to the beauty world at the moment, you can really use it anywhere you need to feel more radiant. It should be the last step of your makeup application, going on over everything else, and making you glow. Theoretically, it should work for all skin tones, but looking at the product shot, I’m a little doubtful about that, as it looks pretty dark to me. That said, it claims to produce a “rose golden” complexion, so I’m sure I’ll find it in me to give it a bit of a test run next time I’m near a Benefit counter (and when it arrives in the UK)! Moxie – the prettiest tampons around
OK, so this isn’t strictly speaking a beauty product: well, not at all, really. But these Moxie tampons were too pretty not to show you, and I don’t think I’ve ever used the words “pretty” and “tampons” in the same sentence before, so that’s something of a first. The tampons themselves come individually wrapped, and have a Silken Glaze smooth coating inside a pearl finish applicator. The packaging, meanwhile, is the kind of thing you wouldn’t be embarrassed to leave lying around, and the little tins make great storage for makeup brushes and other bits and pieces. Available in regular and super, these will be available soon from Superdrug, and you can find out more at the Moxie website. Clinique launch new High Impact Curling Mascara
As some of you know, I'm addicted to my eyelash curler. It's my not-so-secret weapon in the fight to make my lashes look longer and more dramatic, and I've always found that curly lashes look longer, and make your eyes seem much bigger, than straight ones. But there's no denying that some mornings I'd like to be able to just skip that step. I always warm my eyelash curler before using it, giving it a quick blast with my hairdryer: it would be quicker and easier if my mascara could just do the curling for me, but, to date, I've never found a curling mascara that would do that. Could Clinique's new High Impact Curling Mascara be the one to change that? Well, the signs seem good, so far. The name alone is enough to attract my attention, and the "lash curler no longer required" tagline they're using to promote it also taps into exactly what I'm looking for. Furthermore, this claims to hold a curl for up to 24 hours, to be flake and smudge proof, and to be all-round brilliant, in fact. So far, so very tempting, but the proof will be in the using. If you'd like to give it a whirl, it comes in brown or black and it's £13.21 from Boots.

Shu Uemura launch Rouge Unlimited Pink Collection
Pink: it makes the boys wink, apparently. Shu Uemura certainly seem to think so, because their new Rouge Unlimited Pink Collection is … well, the name says it all, really: it's a profusion of pinks for the lips, and it's all made with a pink hybrid pigment, which they say is one of the purest pink pigments ever discovered. The new collection contains 9 shades of Rouge Unlimited Lipstick and 5 shades of Gloss Unlimited, in shades of pink ranging from light, through yellowish, dark and bluish pinks. Barbie would love it. Suggested prices are $23 for the lipsticks and $22 for the glosses, and you'll find them at Shu Uemura counters everywhere from this month.

MAC’s Brunette Blonde Redhead collection
I've said it many times now, but as much as I love being a redhead, it can make finding makeup that works with my colouring just a little bit difficult. Naturally, then, I'm intrigued by MAC's Brunette, Blonde, Redhead collection, which groups products according to the three hair colours named, the theory being that if you're a redhead, you choose products from the 'redhead' collection, and they'll all work for you, and so on and so forth. Like the MyFace products I tested last month, which worked along similar lines, I suspect that this isn't an exact enough science to mean that you'll love every single colour that's designed for your hair colour, but it's a nice idea, and I have to say that, at first glance, the "redhead" selections do look like the kind of shades I'd choose for myself, although I haven't tried them, so can't say for sure. These are available to buy from the MAC website, and there are lip glosses, eyeshadows and Mineralise Skin Finish Powders to choose from.

Jelly Belly’s Lip Lickin’ New Glosses It's no secret that along with a passion for makeup (and the award for the least surprising confession ever goes to…. ) I've also got a bit of a sweet tooth (ok, a lot of one). Apart from chocolate- which, should totally be a food group in its own right- my favourite treat of choice? Jelly Beans. So, obviously this trio of lipglosses caught my eye. Not to mention my tastebuds. Because who could resist the lure of the candy plus cosmetic combo? Not me. Evidently. Made by Jelly Belly, creators of the one-and-only gourmet jelly bean, the glosses come in their three most popular flavours: Cotton Candy, Very Cherry and Blueberry. Available from Asos.com for the very sweet price of £3. | |||||||
