Today I’m absolutely thrilled to announce a new addition to Hey, Dollface! Joy Jewell (of the fabulous Twelve52) is going to be writing some guest posts for the site, and I’m really thrilled to have her on board, because having followed her on Twitter, and through her previous blogs, I can tell you that this woman knows her stuff. Here’s a quick introduction to Joy, in her own words:

“My obsession with the world of beauty started early in life. It all began with that mysterious item… my mum’s make up bag. Oh what treasures such a thing holds for a three year old. I broke into the little zipped pouch and set to happily applying green shadow all over my cheeks; well, it was the eighties after all.

Whilst my technique has changed quite a bit as I’ve got older, the excitement which beauty products can stir in me hasn’t faltered. I get giddy over limited edition palettes and get serious when it comes to skin care. Hours have been spent researching different ingredients and many more hours have been used up watching make up tutorials on YouTube.

Was it any wonder I took to a career in the industry? A freelance beauty writer by trade I’ve written for a variety of companies and websites over the last five years, most recently for ghd where I added hair care to my list of beauty infatuations. If you want an utter know it all to help you with your hair questions, then I’m your girl.

So now, here I am, a Dollface in my own right. Join me as I share my beauty mania, we’ve got a lot to talk about…”

Welcome to Dollface, Joy!

Hey, Dollfaces!

This is just a quick note to say that I may not be around as often as I’d like to be for the next couple of weeks. As some of you may know, I’m currently embroiled in a legal dispute concerning my shoe blog, Shoeperwoman, and someone who has set up two websites using a near-identical name and subject matter, and who is trying to trademark the name, which would effectively put my site out of business. I’m not going to say any more about this because I’ve written about it at length here, but I did just want to pop in and let you know that because the issue is currently taking up so much of my time, it is having an obvious impact on my other sites, and is preventing me from updating as often as I’d like to.

I actually have lots of new posts planned for Dollface, but just don’t have the time to photograph the products and write the posts, and as you can probably imagine, testing out makeup is the last thing on mind right now, but I will be back as soon as I possibly can, and I hope you’ll all stick around in the meantime.

Hey, Dollfaces!

Just a quick note to say sorry for the lack of posts here recently: I had a couple of unexpected projects pop up last week which sucked up all of my time, and now I’ve managed to go and get sick, so unfortunately I’ve had neither the time nor the inclination to try out new products. I’m busy dosing myself up with Lemsip and vitamin C, however, and my current busy phase should end this week, so normal service will resume soon. Until then, thanks for sticking with me, and feel free to talk amongst yourselves!

Well, folks, I’m getting ready to shut up shop for the year, and take off to spend the next few days overindulging in good food, good wine and good company, but before I do, I just wanted to take a few moments to say thank you to all of my readers for your support over the past year, and particularly over the past few weeks of sparse posting due to my vacation and the holidays. I’m looking forward to getting things back on track next year, and hope you’ll come back to see what 2011 will bring: have a great new year!

Just in case all of those posts about self-tanners and whatnot weren’t enough of a clue, I’m off to Florida tomorrow for three weeks, and I could not be happier about it. I’m sure the beauty blogging world will manage to continue quite happily without me for a while, but just in case you’re in need of something to read, don’t worry, I’ve scheduled some posts in advance, so you’ll still have plenty of new products to look at while I’m gone, just not quite as many as usual, because, well, there are only so many hours in the day!

Anyway, I’ll be back soon, having hopefully replenished my stash of cosmetics at the Mother Ship that is Sephora, so in the meantime, I hope you all have a fabulous three weeks, and I’ll see you when I get back!

It’s a public holiday today here in the UK, so I’ve decided to take a rare day off and try to catch up with my beauty sleep. Things will be back to normal tomorrow, but for now, stay beautiful!
