Tag Archives: benefitBenefit launch Bella Bamba brightening pink face powder
The latest blush I’ll probably miss out on unless someone’s prepared to pry my NARS Orgasm from my cold, dead hands, is Benefit’s latest release, Bella Bamba. This is a watermelon pink with gold undertones, which looks very pretty in the product shots, and comes packaged in Benefit’s signature cardboard box. I will make a mental note to stop and check this out next time I pass the Benefit counter in my local department store. You, meanwhile, can click here to buy it for $28. Benefit ‘Girl Meets Pearl’ – liquid pearl for the faceBenefit have been busy creating new products this summer, and one of their latest offerings to arrive in the US (it won’t hit the UK until October, unfortunately) is ‘Girl Meets Pearl’, which they describe as “liquid pearl for face” and I describe as “highlighter”. Packaged in the same kind of tube as Benefit’s ‘That Gal’ primer, this looks to me to be a more golden-toned version of their bestselling High Beam, or its sister product, Moon Beam. Now, I adore High Beam, and would be hard pressed to find a good reason to purchase this one instead of it, but if you’ve found that the High/Moon duo aren’t quite the right shade, then this could well be the answer. Wear alone or over makeup to add a “luminous” glow anywhere you need it, and layer it up for a more obvious glow. This is $30 from the Benefit website – click here to buy it. Benefit The POREfessional minimizes the appearance of poresI’ve been meaning to write about this product for ages now, but better late than never, I guess! For most of my life, I’ve been plagued by open pores. As a teenager, I always assumed this was one of those temporary, teenage thing (like acne, say) that I’d one day grow out of, and be left with perfect, pore-free skin, but that day never came, and those pores are just as large and as open as they’ve ever been. To be honest, I’ve not really tried to do much about this, as I’ve always had more pressing beauty concerns on my mind, like trying to work out which mascara will make my eyelashes actually reach the ceiling, and that kind of thing. The appearance of this product on the market did pique my interest, though. Its full title is “The POREfessional: pro balm to minimize the appearance of pores“, and that really tells you almost everything you need to know about this. The most important thing to note, however, is that it’s designed purely to disguise those open pores, not to treat them, so if you want rid of them forever (or to minimize them, rather: if you get rid of your pores altogether you won’t be able to sweat, and that won’t be pretty) this isn’t the product for you. If your content just to hide them a little better than foundation alone can generally manage, however, it’s a clear balm which can be applied over or under makeup, and which you can use throughout the day for top-ups as needed. I’d be really interested to know how much of a difference this actually makes. Anyone tried it? It costs $28, and you can click here to buy it from Benefit. Benefit launch “Take a picture…it lasts longer…” glimmering body balm
That’s just fine by me: I can’t really imagine using something like this anywhere other than on the legs, but a bit of well-placed shimmer can really help define the leg muscles, and bring dull, pasty skin to life. It sounds like the kind of thing that might come in handy on those days (or nights) when you don’t want to wear tights, can’t be bothered to apply fake tan, but do want to give your skin a little bit of a glow. It comes with a ‘Bathina’ velvet puff for application, and costs $28. Benefit Stay Don’t Stray primer for concealer and eyeshadow
This is called ‘Stay Don’t Stray’ (you’ve no idea how many times I’ve gotten that the wrong way round in my head, and thought of it as “Stray Don’t Stay’, which obviously has the exact opposite meaning!), and it’s what Benefit describe as a ’360 degree primer’ for the eye area. What this means is that you basically spray it in a circle covering your entire eye (you’ll want to close ‘em first, obviously), and the product will prime the area ready for the application of under-eye concealer and eye shadows. The shade is said to be “universally flattering” (I never quite trust claims like that, but the proof is in the wearing…), and it will also brighten the eye area and minimise the appearance of fine lines. Once it’s on, it claims to keep your concealer crease-free: ditto for your eyeshadow, which should also stay put and retain the vibrancy of its colour. Want to try it? I do, but of course you knew I’d say that. It’s $24 from Sephora. Benefit Powderazzi – three famous face powders in one“I’m your biggest fan, I’ll follow you until you love me! Powder! Powderazzi!” Whoops, sorry: you caught me in a ‘Lady Gaga’ moment there. And that song’s going to be stuck in my head ALL DAY now, too. Gah. Anyway, on with the show: this is a (relatively) new release from Benefit, and as a fan of their face powder (I’m a “Georgia” girl myself, but I’ve always fancied trying the rest of the range), I think it’s a really good idea, allowing you to try out three different products, and only pay a couple of dollars more than you’d pay for one. If you’re worried about the size of these, I’d say you probably don’t need to be, because Benefit powder tends to last a long time: or at least it has for me. I’ve had the same tub of Georgia for years now: I bought a new one for my wedding (in, er, 2007), thinking the original was about to run out, but I STILL haven’t had to bust it out almost three years later. True, I don’t tend to wear it quite as often as I used to, but even so, although the stuff is expensive, it should last long enough to justify the price. This set contains CORALista (blusher), Hula (bronzer) and Dallas (dust it on anywhere you want to “glow” – I’d really like to try this one!), so would make a good travel kit, too. It’s $30 and available from Benefit. Benefit One Hot Minute sexy in seconds face powder
Ah, I love a new Benefit release, especially one designed to give me a “gaze at me glow” – that’s their words, not mine, as if you couldn’t guess. This is One Hot Minute, and it’s essentially a face powder, but as it’s designed to provide that oft talked about “radiance” that’s so important to the beauty world at the moment, you can really use it anywhere you need to feel more radiant. It should be the last step of your makeup application, going on over everything else, and making you glow. Theoretically, it should work for all skin tones, but looking at the product shot, I’m a little doubtful about that, as it looks pretty dark to me. That said, it claims to produce a “rose golden” complexion, so I’m sure I’ll find it in me to give it a bit of a test run next time I’m near a Benefit counter (and when it arrives in the UK)! Benefit release BADGal Brown mascara – plus free shipping
These days, of course, “natural” isn’t really something I’m after when it comes to my eyelashes, so it’s black all the way, but for those of you who do prefer the natural look, I thought you might like to know that Benefit’s BADgal is now available in brown, and they’re also currently offering free US shipping with the code MILEHIGH. I wasn’t all that impressed with BADgal when I reviewed it this summer, but I know it has lots of fans, so if you’re among them and you want to try out this new brown version, you can buy it here. Dollface Reviews: Benefit Speedbrow tinted eyelash gel
Given that this site has become my own special place for embarrassing myself , I may as well admit that, as well as meeting above my nose (if I don’t tweeze them every day), my eyebrows are also long and straggly. Yes, you wish you were me, you really do… When you have long, straggly eyebrows, you face a daily battle to look anything like “groomed”. You see, I can tweeze my eyebrows into the perfect shape, but the long, long hairs will still straggle, making me look like I’ve been dragged through the proverbial bush backwards. Cutting them is a mistake – that just makes them spiky. Having them professionally threaded or some other kind of salon treatment could work, but doesn’t because I am: a) poor So it’s Benefit Speedbrow all the way. Luckily for me, Speedbrow is something of a miracle worker on my eyebrows. As well as giving them a bit of colour (they’re naturally very pale), it also holds them in place, keeping all those stragglers in place and, even better, keeping them in place all day. It’s probably not as good as a professional eyebrow tweezing/threading/whatever, but almost… Buy It: Benefit Speedbrow

New Product: Benefits’ ‘That Gal’ brightening face primer
I heard about this via Jen’s blog, Glossing Over It, this weekend, and was so excited I almost wet myself. Sorry, am I over-sharing here? As you all know, I lovelovelove Benefit, so a new product launch from them is always good news. This one is particularly good news, though, because, well, it sounds like a particularly good product. It’s a face primer, but unlike Benefit’s currently available primer, Doctor Feelgood, this one will also brighten your skin, rather than just preparing it for makeup. According to Benefit, "It’s a silky pink primer that makes skin appear smoother & It’s $27 and currently only available in the US, but no doubt coming soon to an eBay auction near you.
