This HD Brows Eye and Brow Palette came as part of the Glossybox I was sent last month, and although it’s taken me a while to get round to reviewing it, I’ve used it every single day since it arrived, which I guess tells you everything you need to know about how much I like it! The palette was created by the company behind the HD Brows brow-shaping salon treatment, which is getting a lot of press attention at the moment (and which I’m desperate to try!). It contains two shadows, and two brow powders:
You can see the shadows, in “nude” and “carbon” at the top of the palette, while the powders are “warm brown” and “ash brown”, at the bottom. I initially assumed the “warm brown” shade would be the best match for me, but it’s actually the “ash brown” I’ve been using – it’s a little more of a “taupe”, while the other shade is slightly redder. Here are all of the shades swatched on my arm:
L-R: Ash Brown, Warm Brown, Nude, Carbon Basically, this contains everything you’d need for a really quick, simple eye: the two powders fill in the brows (and, unusually for me, I’ve been using the brush that comes with the palette, rather than one of my own, because it’s the perfect shape to create a smooth, strong brow), the nude shadow for the lid and up to the brow bone, and a little dab of the darker shadow in the socket: simple, easy, but really effective. This is £19.95 and you can click here to buy it.
Soap & Glory Arch De Triumph Eyebrow Shaping and Highlighting KitI’ve written more than enough recently about my ongoing attempts to tame my eyebrows into submission, and while I’m currently perfectly happy with the GOSH brow products I wrote about last week, I’m always keeping an eye(brow) out for the next weapons that might join my beauty arsenal. For some reason, brow products can be quite expensive, so Soap & Glory’s Arch de Triumph seems like a pretty good deal to me. The pack contains a double-ended pencil (I have an almost identical one from Anastasia, which cost a lot more), plus a set of eyebrow stencils, and together these will cost you just £7.50. I’ve paid more than that for stencils alone, so assuming these are of good quality, I think it’s a good price. The pencil has a brow shaper on one end and a highlighter on the other, and the stencils come shaped for petite, medium and high brows: you can buy it at ASOS.com, or anywhere else that stocks Soap & Glory. Dollface Reviews: GOSH Brow Kit and Defining Brow GelA couple of days ago, I received a bag full of GOSH goodies to try out, and as soon as I saw these two brow products, I leapt upon them with an enthusiasm that only the straggly-browed among you will be able to understand. My brows are a nightmare. As well as my oft-mentioned uni-brow, they’re also long, thick and super-straggly: I could tweeze them into the most perfect arch imaginable, but without the aid of some kind of product to practically glue them in place, they’ll still look spiky, straggly and just downright messy. My last brow gel (An Anastasia one) ran out a few weeks ago, and I haven’t got round to replacing it, so I decided to try out the GOSH gel right away, and while I was at it, I took the Brow Kit for a spin, too. First up, the Brow Kit:

Anastasia Brow Definer – gel and pencil in one product
This product is one of those things that doesn’t offer anything truly revolutionary, but which is still handy to have. On one end there’s a brow pencil and on the other a clear brow gel, so you can fill them in and hold them in place without having to rummage around for two separate products. Simple, but hey, I’d buy it. I love brow products. Anastasia Brow Definer, $22 at Nordstrom Dollface Reviews: Benefit Speedbrow tinted eyelash gel
Given that this site has become my own special place for embarrassing myself , I may as well admit that, as well as meeting above my nose (if I don’t tweeze them every day), my eyebrows are also long and straggly. Yes, you wish you were me, you really do… When you have long, straggly eyebrows, you face a daily battle to look anything like “groomed”. You see, I can tweeze my eyebrows into the perfect shape, but the long, long hairs will still straggle, making me look like I’ve been dragged through the proverbial bush backwards. Cutting them is a mistake – that just makes them spiky. Having them professionally threaded or some other kind of salon treatment could work, but doesn’t because I am: a) poor So it’s Benefit Speedbrow all the way. Luckily for me, Speedbrow is something of a miracle worker on my eyebrows. As well as giving them a bit of colour (they’re naturally very pale), it also holds them in place, keeping all those stragglers in place and, even better, keeping them in place all day. It’s probably not as good as a professional eyebrow tweezing/threading/whatever, but almost… Buy It: Benefit Speedbrow
