Tag Archives: maybellineDollface Reviews: Maybelline Super Stay Color 18-Hour LipstickFor the last few weeks, I’ve been desperately wanting to find a really good long-lasting lipstick. When you have lips as pale as mine (Without a touch of colour on my lips, I look like I’ve been recently exhumed, and I’ve lost count of the times I’ve got out for the day/evening looking fairly presentable, only to go to the bathroom halfway through my first drink and discover that all of the colour is gone, and I’m once again doing a great impression of the Living Dead) normal lipsticks just don’t cut it, and while I’ve been wearing my Revlon ColorStay a lot in recent months, I’m getting a little tired of the colours, and wanted to try something new. Also, repeated use of the Revlon products does tend to leave my lips feeling very dry (a side-effect of most long-lasting lipsticks I’ve tried), so the hunt was on for something that would stay put for hours, suit my colouring AND be comfortable to wear. Luckily, I didn’t have to look too long to find something that at least claimed to do all of this and more. I was en-route to the supermarket on Monday when I noticed a billboard advertising Maybelline Super-Stay Color, which now claims to last for 18 hours, rather than the previous 16. “Eighteen hours?!” I thought. “We’ll see about that!” Fortunately, the supermarket I was headed to has a Maybelline stand, so I didn’t have to wait long to put my plan into action, either. I swung by the stand, and after a large amount of indecision, settled on shade 510 – Red Passion:

Maybelline Pulse Perfection: another vibrating mascara
There's been a buzz (no pun intended) about vibrating mascara wands gong on in the beauty world for some time now, but I think Maybelline may be the first of the budget brands to give it a whirl. Or a shake, as the case may be. Their Pulse Perfection, like other mascaras before it, is battery powered, and uses a vibrating motion to make sure no lash goes uncoated. It delivers 7,000 vibrations per minute, and the studies the brand have done show that it leaves lashes thicker, longer and all-round lovelier. Will it work? Well, it's not on sale yet, but they've set up a special micro site (it's down at the moment, but I'm assuming will be live nearer the time), ad you can buy it there, for one day only, on May 18th. If you're one of the lucky ones, obviously. If you're not, it will go on general release in July, and will cost $14.95. Dollface Reviews: Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara (with before and after pictures)
Maybelline's new Lash Stiletto mascara aims to do for your lashes what stilettos do for your legs - so it'll make them longer, prettier and all round sexier, basically. Or that's the claim. I tried it out this morning, and you can see the Before and After shots above, so you can be the judge of that one! I love the packaging of this: it's long and lean, and looks just like a stiletto heel, right down to the little tip on the end. The marriage of shoes and mascara - it's like a Dollface dream come true! As for the brush, it also gets the thumbs up, as it, too, is long and lean. This is by far my preferred shape of mascara wand: these days most of the mascaras I try seem to go for a super-thick, bristly wand, which doesn't work for me at all, and generally just leaves the mascara smudged all over my eyelids and beyond. Lash Stiletto's wand is slim, though, which makes it very easy to use, and also allows you to get right into the corners of the eye, and coat every lash, including the lower lashes. Tops marks for appearance, ease of use and staying power, then: it's stayed put all day, with no trace of smudging, and none of those tell-tale deposits under the eye. On the down side, though, I'm not really seeing much in the way of lengthening, and, being a non-waterproof formula, it dragged the curl out of my lashes, too. I'd be interested to see this in a waterproof version, but if you'd like to try it as it is, you'll find more information at the Maybelline website. Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara
I’m obviously going to succumb to the lure of this sooner or later, but if you’d like to succumb sooner, please drop me a comment and let me know what you think of it! Reviewed By You: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
This product is the perfect example of what I was talking about above. Great Lash has won awards from a whole slew of beauty magazines. Lots of makeup artists says it’s the only mascara they’ll use, and its fans absolutely swear by it. Then there’s the rest of us. Dollface Reviews: Maybelline Pure Makeup foundation
I’ll be completely honest: I choose Maybelline’s Pure Makeup solely because it was the end of the vacation, funds were running low, and it was the cheapest foundation on the display – I think it was around $5. Because of the low price and the lack of thought that had gone into this purchase, I really wasn’t expecting much from it, so I was really surprised when I wore it the next day and had the first compliment I’ve had in years on my skin. (OK, it was from my mother, but hey, it still counts!) I tried it again when I got home and was really surprised to find that this $5 foundation was actually… really good. Read on for the review… |
