More information here.] I’ve had these MeMeMe cream eyeshadows in my “to try” box for absolutely ages now, but life has been increasingly hectic, as it always is in the last few months of the year, and I haven’t had a chance to try them out properly, so I thought I’d swatch the colours for you instead. This is a group of metallic colours, which is one of my favourite eye shadow looks, when I can be bothered to actually apply the stuff! The colours are Molten Brown, Sparkling Silver and Liquid Bronze, and you can see the swatches under the jump… Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe Light Me Up High Shine Lipgloss in ‘Radiant’
Light up lip gloss: it’s not a new idea, but it is a pretty handy one, especially when the lipgloss in question has a mirror on the side as well as a light in the lid, allowing you to apply it on the go, anytime you like. This one is by MeMeMe, and it’s called Light Me Up High Shine Lip Gloss. In the picture above, I’m wearing shade #3 – ‘Radiant’, which is one of those lovely, natural looking “my lips, but better” shades. It’s actually quite a bit glossier than it looks in the photo, too, so I can confirm that it does live up to the “high shine” claim, even although it may not look like it does here. I don’t wear lipgloss very often, mostly because of the “hair stuck to the lips” syndrome. This one, however, is non-sticky, and nice and comfortable to wear, as well as being a flattering, natural looking colour, so I may be persuaded to wear it more often. MeMeMe products are available from Superdrug, and this one is £5.24. Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe Jewel Eye Pots eye shadow in ‘Diamond Diva’
What's that, I hear you ask? Why it is a Jewel Eye Pot from MeMeMe, and it's really quite clever. Lookit!
One pot, two different types of shadow. On the top: Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe Colourama Long Lasting Cream Eyeshadow
I’ve actually had these MeMeMe eyeshadows for a couple of weeks now, but, true to form, my eyes decided to do their usual, “Oh, you’re going on holiday soon! Guess we’ll just break out in painful red blotches and maybe swell up a bit, too!” thing. So, yeah, thanks for that, guys, love you too. (Note: nothing to do with this, or any other, product, I hasten to add, just my bad luck.) Anyway, I finally got around to trying them out this week, and you’ll find some pictures of what they look like on after the jump. These are metallic shades of silver and bronze, but they’re fairly dull metallics so there’s no glitter or anything like that – in fact, they’re subtle enough to wear during the day, I’d say. When you open the cap, you find a sponge applicator attached to it: this is the only thing I wasn’t;t keen on, because I prefer a brush, and the sponge was a little bigger than I like, but it’s easy enough to use. The colour goes on smoothly and builds up easily if you want a deeper colour. It calls itself a “Long Lasting” eyeshadow, and I’d agree with that – I tried it without primer to test the claim fully, and it stayed on all day, no problem. This is available from Superdrug, although you’ll have to look for it in-store only. Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe Fat Cat Lashes Mascara
I'm still on the trail of the best budget mascara in the world ever. Will ANYTHING ever persuade me to give up my high-end mascaras? I doubt it, but today MeMeMe have given it their best shot with their Fat Cat Lashes mascara, which retails for £7.99 – a price that kick Lancome et al squarely in the pants. It gets points straight out of the gate for the funky packaging and, of course, the name. It's called 'Fat Cat', and it has a nice fat brush, too. With this wand, you're supposed to be able to create a "false lash effect". I didn't find that to be quite the case, but it is one of the better budget brands: it's easy to use, goes on smoothly, and does add length to the lash – just not as much as some of the more expensive mascaras I've tried. With that said, this is a great mascara for the money: it doesn't flake, doesn't run, and has a nice, thickening effect. If you'd like to try it for yourself, it's available at Superdrug. Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe Shimmy Shimmer Gold Palette
Hey, look! It's a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick! Except no, not really: it's a Shimmy Shimmer Gold Palette by MeMeMe, the brand that's renowned for making more affordable versions of high-end cosmetics. This palette is £6.84 at Superdrug (it's not actually available on the website at the moment, so you'll need to visit a store to buy it), and as you can see, it bears a strong resemblance to the aforementioned Shimmer Brick. Now, I'm not going to lie to you: the quality isn't as good. The pigments aren't nearly as intense, and it doesn't last as long as the original. The packaging isn't as nice either:
At the end of the day, though, this is a budget product, and in that context, it's pretty good at what it does. The colours can be used anywhere on your face (or your body, for that matter) to add a subtle "shimmer" to the skin, and they can be used alone or blended together. This should be appearing on the Superdrug website soon, if you want to try it for yourself. Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe ‘Smitten Kitten’ Purr-fect Lip & Cheek Tint and Ultra Meow Gloss
Another multi-purpose lip-and-cheek tint one of my very favourite kinds of beauty products! This one is by MeMeMe, and is called "Smitten Kitten". One one side, their Purr-fect Lip and Cheek Tint – a budget Benetint, if ever I saw one! – and on the other, their Ultra Meow Gloss, in clear. This is the perfect kind of thing to pop in your handbag for emergency makeup top-ups,although you'll have to be careful to make sure you're holding the lip and cheek tint the right way up when you open it, or you could have a nasty accident! I used the cheek tint this morning, and it's very like Benefit's Benetint in colour as well as in appearance (it's a much less brownish-red than it appears to be in the photo above, by the way!) – in fact, the whole thing is a dead ringer for their Pocket Pal, don't you think? The price, of course, is a little different: this is £4.99 from Superdrug, although, once again, I can't track it down on their website. Dollface Reviews: MeMeMe Drama Queen mascara
If ever there was a mascara with a name guaranteed to appeal to this Dollface, MeMeMe's 'Drama Queen' would be it. This is described as a "High impact, ultra glossy, volu-lift mascara" with a "new flexible 3D brush" which "separates ad sculpts lashes to deliver show stopping glamour." But obviously it's the "drama" bit that appeals to me. Now, this isn't a waterproof mascara (although there is a waterproof version available) which is normally a sure-sign that I won't like it. Surprisingly, though, I did like this one, and here's why:
That's the "new flexible 3D brush", and I like it because it's long and slim, unlike a lot of mascara's currently on the market, which tend to be short and thick instead. And actually, for a budget mascara, this is actually quite a good one: nice coverage, glossy finish, and while the results aren't particularly dramatic, it is one of the better non-waterproofs I've tried. This is available from Superdrug, although I couldn't seem to find it on their website, so you may have to pop into the store to pick one up. Dollface Reviews: Poppy Tint for cheeks and lips by MEMEME
MEMEME's 'Poppy Tint' is the brand's latest lip and cheek tint, and let's be honest: it's basically a budget version of Benefit's Posie Tint, isn't it? I've only ever tried Posie Tint very briefly, at a Benefit counter, and I couldn't really see it on my cheeks at all, so I wasn't really expecting too much from Poppy Tint – especially given that it's quite a fluorescent shade of pink when it comes out of the bottle. Actually, though, I really like this. As you can (possibly) tell from the photo above, this is a fairly subtle pink, but it still creates a natural looking pink flush, and I can see myself using it quite a lot, especially in the summer, when I tend to gravitate towards a more "natural" makeup look. This is just £4.99 and is available from Superdrug, although I couldn't find it on their website, so you'll need to have a look in-store if you want to try it. MEMEME Anti Fatigue Foundation with 10 hour sleep effect
MEMEME’s Anti Fatigue Foundation claims to do just that. This contains a natural, energising complex, which the brand say will " improve skin turnover to help skin look healthy and glowing". If it actually does all of that, this could just become my new best friend, especially given that it only costs £6.99 per bottle. It’s part of the MEMEME line, which is sold at Superdrug – I’ve mentioned their Benefit-style cheek stains and highlighters before, and have been intending to check out the brand in person for a while now, so maybe this is just the excuse I’ve been waiting for! As I say, this is available from Superdrug, but it doesn’t seem to have been added to the website just yet, so look out for it in-store. |
