Tag Archives: philosophyPhilosophy’s Classic Cookbook![]() OK, I’m starting to have serious trouble here trying to keep up with the rate at which Philosophy release gift sets containing their shampoo/shower gel/bubble bath mixtures. This is called The Classic Cookbook, and celebrates both the upcoming holiday season and Sephora’s 10th birthday (Happy Birthday, Sephora!) with ten delicious-sounding products: Strawberry Milkshake, Red Velvet Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Senorita Margarita, Coconut Frosting, Cinnamon Buns, Double Rich Hot Cocoa, Raspberry Sorbet, Vanilla Birthday Cake, and Melon Daiquiri. There’s also a recipe book, should you wish to try your hand at making something that’ll taste delicious as well as smelling delicious. I don’t think £40 is a bad price for all those products: if you don’t think so either, it’s available only at Sephora. Philosophy’s Haunted House set, just in time for Halloween!![]() Halloween isn’t nearly as much of a big deal here in the UK as it is in the US, so it takes something like beauty, clothes or, OK, wine, to get me really interested in it. Luckily for me, Philosophy have made it possible to celebrate Halloween without even leaving the house, thanks to this Haunted House set, which contains three bottles of their well-loved 3-in-one bath foam/shower gel/shampoo in the appropriately autumnal black licorice, caramel apple, and pumpkin spice muffin. It’s $30 and a nice way to get even me into the spirit of the season… Philosophy Coconut Frosting Salt Scrub
Lovely, no? Philosphy ‘the natural’ beauty box exclusive to Nordstrom
I’m sure we’d all love to be a natural beauty: you know, one that doesn’t have to apply a face full of cosmetics every morning in order not to scare the neighbourhood children. Alas, it’s not always to be. Personally, I’m one of those girls that HAS to apply a face full of makeup, just to create the effect of NOT having applied any makeup at all. Which is a bit of a bummer, to be honest. Also: expensive. Philosophy’s ‘The Natural’ set is designed to create that appearance of flawless, natural beauty – with, of course, the help of a whole lot of product. Those products are: -purity made simple one-step facial cleanser (2 oz.) This is exclusive to Nordstrom, and is $75. Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 20
Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar is no longer one of them, though. It’s now available with SPF 20, which as the Nordstrom website points out, gives you one more reason to love it. Everything else seems unchanged here, but the addition of the SPF alone will make you that bit less likely to get wrinkles (or, you know, cancer) when you use it. Bravo, Philosophy! Buy: Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 20, $45 Dollface Reviews: Philosophy ‘The Present’ clear makeup
All I can say, though, is Philosophy’s ‘The Present’ is the emperor’s new clothes of cosmetics for me, because as far as I can tell, it doesn’t do a thing for me. On its own: Well, it’s clear, and what can I say – it really didn’t make any difference to my skin at all. I should add here that I wasn’t expecting miracles. It would’ve been nice if The Present had delivered the perfect, airbrushed skin I had read about, but really, my skin looked exactly the same, both before and after use. Philosophy’s Breakfast in Bed set – another great Mother’s Day Gift
Of course, it figures that as soon as I finish writing the Mother’s Day Gift Guide, I find something that would make an even more perfect Mother’s Day Gift. It’s Philosophy’s Breakfast in Bed (if anyone makes better gift sets than Philosophy, I don’t know who it is), and it contains three bottles of Philosophy’s 3-in-one shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath in the delicious-sounding Cafe Au Lait, Fresh Cream, and Belgian Waffles. Once again I find myself wondering, "Why is it that so many beauty products make me want to eat them?" Buy: Philosophy Breakfast in Bed set, $30 Philosophy ‘The Lemonade Stand’ gift set
all packed in a cute little box, and exclusive to Nordstrom. Hmm, I could really fancy a drink of pink lemonade now… Beauty Wish List: Philosophy ‘The Present’ clear makeup
First things first: this won’t make my dream of "perfect skin without makeup" come true, because it IS actually makeup. This much is obvious. As to what kind of makeup it IS, though, well, that one’s a little harder to answer. It’s sold as foundation, and is described as "clear makeup", which seems to suggest to me that it’s basically a primer, albeit one that could just be worn on its own, if it really is as good as the reviews I’ve been reading lately seem to suggest it is. Most reviewers suggest that this is a little miracle worker, best used on its own for a natural-but-perfect look. Natural-but-perfect. I could totally live with that. A smaller number of people, of course, are saying that it either makes no difference, or is too glue-like for words. It’s going on my Wish List, anyway. Anyone tried it and want to tell me what to expect? Valentine’s Day Beauty: Philosophy’s Valentine’s Day Lip Duo
When it comes to finding holiday-themed beauty gifts, it’s hard to beat Philosophy, isn’t it? This is another of their Valentine’s Day offerings: the ‘Kiss Me’ lip duo, providing you with two lip shines in Powdered Sugar Cookie and Raspberry Sorbet. Sounds delicious, which is presumably the whole point. They come presented in a pink gift box, so if you’re a guy looking for a gift for a beauty junkie, this could be it.
