For me, comparisons to that Holy Grail of primers are always inevitable, but in this case there are even more similarities: like the Smashbox product, this is a clear gel, and like Smashbox, as soon as it hits your skin, it transforms into a gorgeous, silky finish which makes your skin feel super-smooth and velvety, making an excellent base for makeup, and holding it in place all day without any difficulty. To continue the comparison, I’d say this isn’t quite as good as the Smashbox product at controlling oiliness: it does have a mattifying effect, but it’s not quite as long-lasting as the other product. It also feels a little greasier/heavier on the skin, and doesn’t absorb quite as easily, although I’ve found that leaving it to sink in for a couple of minutes before applying the rest of my makeup resolves that issue. With that said, the difference in price and similarity in texture and quality will probably make me reach for this next time I’m in Sephora, purely because it seems like better value, and does exactly what I need it to. Sephora Favourites Eye Studio: Get The Look – Cat’s EyeI love this idea from Sephora, who’ve basically grouped together all of the products you’ll need to create a specific look – in this case a cat’s eye, with flicked eyeliner. Sure, if you’re a beauty addict you’ll probably have everything you need to do this already, but as with all of the Sephora sets, I find them a nice way to try out some new products I might not otherwise have picked up – and this would also make a nice gift for a makeup-loving friend. The cat’s eye look is one of my favourites, so this kit was of particular interest to me, and it also contains one of my favourite product’s – Anastasia’s Go Brow, which has an eyebrow pencil on one end and a highlighter on the other. (I find this pencil is the perfect colour for filling in my brows, although the highlighter is a little dark for my skin). Along with that you also get Sephora’s own Long-Lasting Eyeliner in black, Stila’s Kajal Eyeliner in Pearl and Too Faced Mini Lash Injection in Pitch Black. This costs $35 for the lot, and there are also versions which will help you create a Smoky Eye and a Natural Eye, too. Get them all at Sephora. A new Sephora Lash Stash: 10 mini mascaras in one box!
Even although only one of the mascaras in my Sephora Lash Stash has met my (admittedly very picky) requirements so far, I still think it’s a great buy, especially for mascara addicts like myself, because it gives you an opportunity to try out of all these different products for only a fraction of the price the full-sized versions would cost. Just when I thought it was safe to go back into Sephora, though, they go and bring out a new Lash Stash, containing ten DIFFERENT mascaras. Sigh. Looks like I already have something on my Wish List for my next trip to the States, then. This time round you get : - 0.16 oz Hourglass Superficial Lash All of these cost just $39: a bargain. And lots of fun, too. Get it at www.sephora.com |
