You can always tell we’ve turned the corner of the year and are heading down the hill towards Christmas when all of the beauty gift sets start showing up in the stores. Not that I’m complaining, mind you: while these undoubtedly make great gifts in their own right, they’re also often a nice way to try out some of the products you’ve had your eye on but don’t want to risk paying full price for in case they don’t work out. This little Smashbox set is a case in point. The Photo Finish Primer needs no introduction, and has well and truly earned its place on my Holy Grail list, but the other two products are ones I haven’t yet tried. Both come from the ‘Photo Finish’ family (which leads me to suspect there probably wouldn’t be too much of a risk involved in a full-price purchase): they’re the Targeted Pore and Line Primer and Line Primer, and the three of these together will set you back $39.99, which doesn’t seem like too much to pay, if, indeed, they do give you the “flawless complexion” promised in the title? Want to find out for yourself? Click here to order this from Nordstrom. Smashbox release Photo Finish Luminizing Foundation PrimerI know, I know: I talk about Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer A LOT here (and, just to give you fair warning, I have a version of this en route to me as I type this, which I’ll be reviewing soon), but in my defence: 1. It’s awesome. 2. They’ve just released this new “Luminizing” version. Now, Sephora don’t give a whole lot of information about this product. From the description, I can see that the formula itself is the same as the other Photo Finish Primers, so we can expect it to feel like skin, and make our faces smooth, soft and ready for foundation. What’s different about this formula, however, is that it’s a colour described as “sheer golden beige”, which will apparently give skin a “beautiful luminous glow.” I’m all for the beautiful luminous glow, but I suspect the “golden beige” bit will be a problem for my not-even-remotely-golden-or-beige skin, so this sounds like it’ll be much better on those of you who have that kind of skin tone naturally (or get it from a bottle). Either way, it’s always great to see new incarnations of my favourite primer: the more, the merrier, right? This is $38 at Sephora. Smashbox Limitless Eye Liner
Anyway, the pencil sharpener search can be called off with Smashbox’s Limitless Eye Liner, because, as you van see, it comes with its own sharpener inside the cap, so you’re always guaranteed a perfect point to apply it with. That’s not the only reason to buy this, of course: it’s also waterproof, and claims to last for eight hours without smudging, plus there are five colours to choose from. I’m drawn to ‘peacock’, which is a gorgeous looking teal colour, but you’ll find your standard black and brown here, too. This is $19 at Smashbox. Smashbox Cosmetics now available in the UK at Debenhams
Good news for my fellow UK-based Smashbox Cosmetics fans! The brand has traditionally been a little hard to get hold of over here, with eBay often being the only place to buy some of the pieces. This month, however, Debenhams have come to the rescue: they’re now the exclusive UK stockists of Smashbox, and you’ll find everything from the fabulous Photo Finish Foundation Primer to O-Glow blush, and everything in between. Best news I’ve had all day. Find the Smashbox section here. |
